2022-23 Lineup Conjecture fun

Just on this point - not trying to undermine what Kihei has done during his career here or negate how many special moments he had, e.g. helping us win a championship - here are the stats I posted elsewhere comparing him to the other PGs in the Bennett era. I think having him as a double as opposed to single is definitely more appropriate though. And I would understand somebody arguing for a triple solely based on this contribution during the championship run, but I think the list compiled above is more trying to evaluate them as players/prospects, not necessarily what special moments each contributed to.

As for Shedrick being the same as Perrantes, that can’t be justified yet for sure. Perrantes was amazing. Shedrick will have to achieve a lot more to get to that level.

Yeah this is why I come off as a Kihei hater to some. It’s not so much that I hate him, I just have such high expectations from PGs under Bennett because they’ve been so awesome

I’d view Perrantes as a triple, too.

Also, this is worth watching again:

While you are definitely correct, all of those other players played with other incredibly skilled players who could score efficiently and defend. Kihei did not except for his first and third year (and even in his third year it was more skilled bigs than wings). When Kihei played with other really good players he had a much better offensive efficiency, even as a freshman. But agree that I still would not put him at their level (except maybe Devon but he was different). Kihei has pretty much had to player with some of the worst wings over Tony’s tenure. Morsell, Beekman (in that role), Stattman, Franklin, Tomas.

I’m fine with Kihei at a double and no more, but I also think it is kind of hard to compare him with Jerome, London, and Devon in that way.

I totally agree that the roster composition has been non-optimal since the title team, and that harmed all the players on the team, including Kihei. So that is definitely a valid point.

Yeah, very true on Perrantes. People forget that, over their entire UVA careers, Perrantes was arguably a better offensive player than Brogdon and his Freshman and Junior years were both arguably better than the best season of anyone on the current team (Beekman’s really the only one with an argument and that’s only if you include D). The man hit 41% of his college 3s.

Henceforth I will only be using baseball to analyze recruiting results. That was killer

How about cricket! “Wicked googly or sticky wicket?”

I played cricket for a Sunday league when I lived in England for 3-years… do you know how hard it is to bowl a Googly? :frowning:

Lol thanks, I was originally gonna use 0-4 and then compute some averages but I figured this was simpler & easier to understand

Surprisingly, yes! I spent a semester at the University of Reading (go White Knights! And I stole and kept my jersey since I failed to hang onto the ones from HS) where I was on their American football team and played a little cricket.

I’d say a wicked googly is like a triple while a sticky wicket is a miss.

I had to google what a googly is.

We sort of glossed over this yesterday but the news of an international trip is HUGE imo. Kinda glad it worked out that last year’s team didn’t do it because I think having that experience with our '22 class will be super beneficial. Give the kids even more time to gel, but more importantly learn the defense so they’re ready to contribute meaningful minutes early in the season. Really excited about this.

This picture is up on my wall… I’m the one on the far left (sorry about the glare). We’re standing in front of our sponsor pub, the Red Lion… in Preston Bissett.

Late 3rd round is like 3-4 years at $900k+/year, right? That’s not bad.
