Woof on the 3pt shooting. Ft percentage though? If thats good I trust he can be a good 3pt shooter cause his form is actually really smooth. And he shot it well during the school year.
His 3pt shooting short comings aren’t form. It’s just not many reps/ his game focuses on attacking the rim.
Also I see that bias kicking in @HoozGotNext LOL HGN is also a Silas fanboy even if he won’t say it.
If we get silas but then get Ty Davis, shooter like Bethea, and Caleb Williams in 2024 that’s more than fine. And that’s if Silas doesn’t improve what will probably be a 34% 3pt shooter in college.
Silas is Brogdon in my eyes like how Ty Davis is Jerome.
@ElliottHoo and @UVApride7 are probably right. And @zvillehoo has the right ideea. I think Nate Oates said the ideal college bball team starts 3 40% 3pt shooters. But man Silas is soo good.
Give a Silas Gertrude backcourt Hause Murphy Huff. Man that would be something
Someone elsewhere made a good point today about Reece. If the NBA does move the age limit in 24 it might make sense for Reece to come out after this year. Food for thought. We might really be turning over the keys to one of these 23s or the luckiest transfer ever, our 24 team should be stacked.
Yeah…… that doesn’t make me feel great. People can come up with all the reasons in the world for why a guy could become a great shooter when he’s not already, but I’d really rather have a PG with a rep as a shooter given the other dudes on the roster.
Isnt Silas a PG? You think we’re landing another high-level PG in ‘24 if we get Silas? Or is the plan for Ty Davis to never move high up in the rankings and we land a steal as his best option?
I completely get the hesitancy to add combine Silas and Gertrude without concrete evidence we are moving away from mover blocker.
If we are moving towards 5 out or even ballscreen offense I love those two paired with a strong shooting guard, hunter/,urphy/hauser forward, and Blake Buchanan at center sliping screens and spacing the floor. Two elite downhill guards who can create for others.
If we fall back on mover blocker for comfort we are screwed if it’s Gertrude Silas at the one two. Like Reece-Kihei screwed
Taine is a kid from New Zealand recruited basically during the depths of the Covid lockdown era. I don’t care who else offered him. Define flyer for me if that ain’t it.
PS: to me flyer doesn’t mean bad. It means highly uncertain use of an available scholarship in a plan c type situation
44 shots is such a small sample that I would be wary of drawing any definitive conclusions about his shooting ability. That would also apply if he went 22-for-44 instead.
I don’t define it as a top 100 kid with multiple power five offers. A flier is someone like igor, kihei or kody who do not have any power five offers and are offered at the tail end of the recruitment calendar. Taine doesn’t fit at all.
Everybody else never played aau against the rest of everybody else thereby providing at least some reasonable basis to compare their relative talent and skill levels?
