I get it but it’s October of his junior year. The top programs aren’t getting serious about 2022 yet. He’s too good to go to a crappy program like Indiana or State. West Virginia might be the hometown fallback if UVA, UNC, and Kentucky don’t get serious about him.
These are the three that are making him a priority, amongst others. I know we are in heavy and I venture to guess when we are done with ‘21, he’ll probably know where we stand. It will be interesting to see who amongst blue bloods will offer early. This will be key, probably.
You can’t turn down Taine for a possible McKneely. They can play together and compliment each other. If CTB lands who he is targeting to go with current team, we are going to be in for an exciting ride. Possibly like UCLA’s and Duke’s glory periods.

To be fair playing against grown men in New Zealand is a little more competitive than playing against WV high school basketball lol. Taine is going to be very good for us. Also McKneely, as I have slowly learned, was never going to be a given for us. Just that we are in a good spot right now.
I think what our staff can sell McKneely on, especially if we get Keels (idk about that), is that he can play some pg or duo-run pg with another combo guard on the floor for us which would help boost his stock as well. Something we did a little with Guy but probably could have developed a little more just for his own prospects. I personally see a LOT of Jamal Murray-ish in his game and he does have vision.

Is Jason Williford doing work in Texas, or is it only because they were able to scout Texas more often because of the games over the summer and staff heavy scouting Austin Nunez?
Of course Williford always does work, but I can’t remember a time we were scouting so many Texas products.

Yeah it’s because Texas was like an AAU bubble. Lots of events, all the top guys participating. Good comp, good streams. The dead period changed the dynamics of who scouts too. Whole staff is involved, not just the assistants.

Shelby’s dad coaches Drive Nation, Nike AAU team there. And apparently he’s also Dort’s guardian, so there’s a reasonable chance they’re a package.
