Looking good! Up 3-0 so only one match away. Close to victory on #5 right now

Potentially close on 4 as well but that one’s in a set tiebreak so could go either way

Awesome. So all the matches just end when they clinch it? Seems kinda untennisy. Oh well, CHAMPS.

Yep… they go unfinished… sometimes during the season, the teams will agree to finish all the matches however.

For those really into tennis HBO Max has a show on Bjorn Borg vs John McEnroe circa 1980 Wimbledon. The singleness of being great at singles tennis is really interesting

Terrific season for them. Swept all their tournament matches except for Florida in the quarters, where they won 4-1. Beat 4 straight SEC teams, all in the top 10, to win the tournament. Won like 23 matches in a row after starting the season 5-5 (albeit against a very tough schedule).

Rodesch, Montes and Schulenburg aren’t done too… they start the singles championships tomorrow or Tuesday.

In case you missed David Teel’s tweet:

Nine current #UVA head coaches have now won a national championship as a big whistle. Andres Pedroso, Brian O’Connor, Kevin Sauer, Tony Bennett, Lars Tiffany, Vin Lananna, George Gelnovatch, Julie Myers and Todd DeSorbo. Remarkable collection of talent.

That is fantastic. A great, great season by mens tennis and the ADs have put together a fantastic group of coaches.

The singles tournament has gotten underway and it’s been a great day for our mens and womens players. Montes to come as well

Crazy they seeded that guy 916th

Yeah it’s a quirky thing about the singles tournament. They seed 16 players. For the top 8, they assign their true seed. For the 9th through 16th seeded players, they call all of them a 9-16 seed, rather than giving their true seed
