35-16 Rutgers over VT with a little over 3 minutes left to play.
It makes me both happy and sad to see VT this low as a program. On one hand, them being terrible at the only sport their fanbase takes any pride in is absolutely hilarious and I enjoy every second of it. But on the other, the fact that we haven’t been able to take advantage and surpass them during this period will go down as a huge missed opportunity for us years from now. We could have really turned the tides on VT and reversed 20-25 years of good faith they built up in-state if we just had a competently ran football program, but instead we find ourselves in probably an even worse position than them.
Saban opting for Buchner as his transfer portal QB was shocking to me, he never impressed as a passer during his time at ND.
Just seems strange that Bama couldn’t land an impact guy to come in and replace Young. Would imagine next season will either be the freshman Sayin starting or they’ll bring in the hottest commodity available via the portal, because that fanbase grows restless quicker than just about anyone.
I also think Bama is in a but of an identity crisis. When you look at their peak they never had great qb play. It was actually a knock on them. Then Clemson entered with Watson and Lawrence and Bama jumped to catch up with Tua Hurtz and Young. But it didn’t work out quite like they planned.
I heard plenty of talk thay Saban wanted yo get back to his roots with a mote game manager style qb and a balanced attack. Which in context makes the signing of Buchner make more sense.
Now looking ahead what does Saban want? He does play in the portal but got to imagine it’ll be tough to find someone up to his standard.
Colorado is all skill players. Deion brought in an impressive amount of individual talent at QB/RB/WR/DB but they’re still a year or two away pretty much everywhere else, just don’t have the depth along the OL or in the front 7 to beat teams like USC or Oregon at least to my eye.
Still a heck of a one year turnaround for this program though, am envious of how much buzz they’ve created. If Deion actually sticks around for a while and is able to replenish his roster fully they’re gonna be a problem.
Agree they are lacking in the trenches and with depth. But I didn’t expect CSU to beat them up front. Credit to the Rams for a great game plan to check down and forcd the LBs and safetys to cover.
I can’t believe I watched till the end of that game that ended past midnight local time and the stadium was still full even though CU was down for the entire game.
