Colorado football is magic y’all. Best story goin’ in sports right now. That game was a blast to watch.
Not a critique of Colorado itself because you’re right, it’s a great story and I love what Deion is doing so far. It’s more that I hate ESPN and other sports media outlets’ marketing strategies of taking something that’s trending at the current moment and feeling the need to shove it down everyone’s throat.
I’m happy to watch Colorado’s games and see the progress they’ve already made in year one of the rebuild behind a hotshot HC with a dynamite personality. But I don’t want or need it to be 90% of what’s talked about whenever I tune into Sportscenter or go onto ESPN.com, that’s when it starts to get irritating and how I think they turn a good amount of sports fans against popular teams. Nobody wants their content to be oversaturated with the same topics over and over again.
Sorry, just had to get that short rant out of the way. Can’t wait to watch CU vs. Oregon next week as my CFB nightcap, should be a good one and I hope Hunter is healthy enough to play.
Who watches Sportscenter anymore? YouTube has better highlights packages by far …
Yep, SportsCenter is now 95% analysis.
MTV is to music videos as Sports Center is to highlights.
You nailed it. I watched that whole game it was a blast. Colorado is a great story but ESPN has driven it into the game already and it’s only week 3. I would not have been surprised if they said game day was in Boulder again next week.
Credit to Sanders as a QB. Kid is tough and legit good.
They could certainly have game day in Eugene but then have 90% of the focus be on coach Prime.
I hope they do it for wazzu and oregon state (both ranked?!) as a last hurrah for those two teams
ND OSU are next week which feels right given the size of the fanbases and a top 10 game in week 4
It’s obvious that it’s not sustainable after last night, but this Colorado team has gotta be the best thing that’s happened to college football in a while. They had me up at 2am watching a game I didn’t even bet on. Plus the whole love/hate aspect with Deion personally…it’s gotta be a ratings bonanza.
Crazy seeing The Rock show up on the sidelines for that game. Imagine who might show up when they play in Pasadena
Apparently the ratings are out drawing NFL games. They had me up until 2am out of curiosity. Prime has been worth every penny the Buffs spent on him
And now Sanders is on 60 minutes? This is all contrived.
Ding ding ding. As is someone else.
He’s good television, and it worked on me last night too. But he’s also a thin-skinned grenade thrower who hasn’t actually proven all that much to me yet (excepting his ability to get top talent to places it doesn’t normally flow and his willingness to run off student-athletes in droves).
Can’t root for him, can’t look away. Perfect fit for ESPN.
“Hasn’t proven all that much to me yet” lol
They won won game all year last season; they’re 3-0, including a win on the road against a ranked team. I sure would take that.
Has UVA won a game of prominence as the CU/TCU game since FSU lost the 0 in their ACC W/L record (Warrick Dunn) in Scott Stadium in '95? Not a rhetorical question.
Maybe something like this? Being at the game, it felt like a big deal to beat a ranked Miami
I think we beat a ranked Louisville team under london?
I believe our last top 10 win was the dadgum Biscuit (technically, “that dadgum No. 18”) game at Scott in 2005.
Hoos shut down the Orange Bowl in a historic one for football fanatics. 05 FSU may be the best one since. Also kinda crazy how few opportunities they’ve had at a top 10 team looking back
