If I’m Elko I stay at Dook and try to become a local legend. I watched that UF job chew up a good coach in Dan Mullen and spit him out in under five years because he couldn’t recruit at a top 10 level, it’s absolutely brutal down in the bible belt.
Will add that I imagine the money is hard to turn down though lol.

This is gonna be one of those Week 1 scores you look back on and are like what the hell happened there when Clemson dominates everybody but FSU and Duke finishes 5-7.

Those SEC jobs if you don’t walk in the door as a name you’re beholden to the donors. You better believe they’d chew up Elko in a heartbeat the moment he drops the Florida cup or gets drubbed in the Cocktail Party.

So uh, how is Dabo going to explain his total about face on the portal next offseason after he realizes that swearing it off on principle is going to end Clemson’s run as a top tier program? (Maybe I’m being dramatic - maybe not)

I’m not seeing this Clemson team turning into a dominant force. The turnovers have killed them, but Duke is holding their own in the trenches. During Clemson’s dominant years, they would own the line of scrimmage. That not happening vs Duke is a big problem in my opinion.

Duke out played clemson on an execution front. Clemson had ever chance but Duke has talent and scheme.

Everyone talking about the Magnificent Seven jumping ship to the SEC or B1G, when in reality they should all be worried about Dook taking their spot as the next football powerhouse.

Might be hyperbole after one bad game but I wonder if/when Clemson fans begin to once again grow weary of Dabo as their HC. This is looking like a 4th straight year of failing to be a national title contender, and their position as a powerhouse in college football is starting to show signs of fading.
Who could they hire that’s better? Or who would even take the job if they fire Dabo for not being a national title contender every year? They weren’t in the conversation before Dabo, doubt anyone else gets them to that level either.
Oh don’t get me wrong, I think it would be a program-burying decision to can him. Dabo is one of the best coaches in the country, but I know there’s some Clemson fans out there who now have the conjecture of being on the same ground as Bama in terms of being in the natty conversation year in and year out. I can’t imagine losing to Dook is sitting well with those people and their unrealistic expectations of success right now.
I love that 90% of rational people will probably read this and shake their head but Brian Kelly is like “Yeah! This is a good look!”
