It was ridiculous. Something like we were +15 in the two minutes before timeouts and -17 in the two minutes coming out of timeouts. Second worst coaching job of TB’s career. To be fair he was probably impacted by the lack of sleep like the players
You guys see what Jay Willy said about Dante on some show today with Jerry Ratcliffe?
Hello big Dante Harris minutes
O/U 24.5 minutes
(First year Reece played 29.5)
Sounds right yes
Just waiting for a comment next about how Groves “shoots the piss out of the ball” and we’ll be set for a season if lineup bickering
Woof

Lol just saw that and came here to post it. Beat me to it.
I’m going to say something and I may get myself in trouble,” Williford said, pausing before he finished his thought. “[Harris] has the potential to be a better on-ball defender than Kihei Clark.”
If we translate it to Kihei Clark actually was mediocre to poor by all advanced defensive metrics and Harris still may not be better according to J Willy…is that better or worse?
My friend. Buckle up. This is already in stone.
Not exactly a hot take imo. Kihei’s on ball defense was great his first 2 years but not nearly as good the remaining 3. With a couple extra inches Harris should be a better on ball defender
Also Harris is a pretty phenomenal athlete for his position. 5’10 and windmill dunking is pretty legit.
Im trying to think of an actual player comp. Will also be interesting to see if the high percentage freethrow percentage and a less hectic system (as in there is one) lead to improved 3pt shooting percentage.
Still pretty sure Rohde starts by all accounts (like 99% sure). The player most raved about coming out of the offseason.
New line-up:
Beeks, Harris, iMac, Rhode, Dunn
Harris can be legit if he can get his three point shooting to over 35%. If he can’t… I mean, maybe he’ll have some nice defensive games, but I struggle to see how it’s going to be a net positive. Our offense needs shooters at the guard positions. We’ve seen what a painful grind it is when we don’t have that. I don’t want to do it again.
I read that Radcliffe article, and my first thought was that Ji-Willy is saying Harris is a pretty good on-ball defender? That’s the story? In watching a minute or so of Dante highlights you can tell he’s very quick, a very good on ball defender, and a very bad shooter. But I keep reading things that treats those three items as news. Nope. News will be something that contradicts what watching a minute of highlights tells us, not something that confirms it.
Hope Gertrude is committed for the long haul because there’s been no indication he’s going to play this season
You can have 3pt shooter at the 2,3,4 spot.
Its when you have 0 shooting guards like 2020 that it becomes an issue
I think indication that we might rely on small ball (heavily possibly) paves way for playing time.
Agreed. Just for fun, I googled “Nigel Johnson Ty Jerome” and was treated to some articles from 2017-18 wondering if Nigel should start over Ty during Nigel’s solid run of games in the non-con, and then other ones with quotes about how Nigel brought quickness and defense to the team, like this one:
”What they brought me here for, to play great defense and heat the other ballhandlers up,” Johnson said. ”And offensively, to get in the lane and playmake for my teammates and myself and score the ball and shoot it.“
And he was in the rotation for those reasons, but his minutes steadily diminished during the conference schedule as it became clear the staff could just ride Ty-Kyle-Devon for most of the perimeter minutes.
I agree with your points 100% in regards to the injuries. Of course it’s not a valid reason(like UMBC) to lose in the first round, but certainly a major factor. I will die on the hill that we beat Ohio if we got to practice leading up to it….
I will say though, I think Kadin playing more or less the whole game gave us a better shot of beating Furman than BVP would have. I think we were a better team when Kadin was playing heavy minutes. That’s just my opinion though.
