2023 Late Recruiting Cycle

Peay needs to play the dookies: “We’re #1! You’re #2!”

I believe we are fast approaching the Catch-22 element of the transfer portal. What Virginia has left to offer isn’t that appealing to the players who are wanted, and those players who do find what Virginia has to offer appealing, aren’t really wanted very much. Not that there isn’t a match out there somewhere, but it’s going to be difficult to find, IMO. Not impossible, but difficult.

Yeah, the Groucho Marx zone. “I refuse to join any club that would have me”

Is it my imagination, or has the buzz surrounding Blue Cain suddenly gone very quiet? With the commitment of Rohde, is the staff still pursuing him? Or, with the commitment of Rohde, has he dropped Virginia? Or, has nothing really changed at all, and it’s simply Thursday?

Sounds like Cain is stringing it out taking more visits and with Rohde in Cain is no longer a must have piece.

True, *but with Rhodes we only have two *proven shooters including imac- which is why I still want Blue.

However I also don’t want to disenfranchise Bond or Gertrude…

One intriguing take-away from that list is that there is a possibility that Virginia and WVU will meet in the Ft Myers Classic next November. It appears that both teams will have quite a few new parts. It will be interesting to see which one can start to gel first.

Totally agree. I’d love to have Cain there’s a place for him.

Also understand the hesitation on his side given a potential log jam in the backcourt

With apologies to Slow Hand, he don’t like, he don’t like, he don’t like . . . Blue Cain!

Uninformed guess that he (or we or both) see the backcourt as too crowded for him and Reece, so he won’t commit to us before knowing Reece’s decision (but might commit somewhere else if they blow him away.)

It’s definitely a high risk/reward scenario for him. If Reece does stay, he’s going to really have to fight entrenched guys for minutes (iMac, Harris, Rohde). If Reece leaves though, he walks into a role similar to what Kyle and Ty had their 1st years, if not more as the first guard off the bench.

He’s gotta decide whether he would be ok not playing a ton if things go that way but likely having a pretty good young team to grow with. Again, the other stuff comes into play. The school, the culture, TB and the long term development. If the other stuff isn’t a fit he should go somewhere else.

Reece!! Does have 2 more years even

I don’t see any hurry to make his decision. There will be good situations with good coaches and minutes he can fight for whenever he signs.

Which reminds me, apropos of nothing, that if my kid were a top 100 recruit, I’d hope he’d commit early to CTB or just wait until April/May of his senior year to sign. Nowadays things change so quickly that a junior year commitment is dicey.
