It’s been exciting to watch the last two days. I’ll definitely watch tomorrow.
I just saw we lost twice to OSU in February 4-1 and 4-0. And the 1 was a doubles point, so we are 0-7 against them in singles.
But the commentators said after our match today that we looked “terrible” at ITA indoors in February, so hopefully we’re all playing a lot better.
I also think there’s something to the fact that it’s hard to break through and win that first title. How many times did we lose to USC as the better seed before we finally got our first natty? Now we’re the “unbeatable” champs that teams fear with 5 titles in a decade. And the last two years we’ve made runs in the tourney that belie our seed. OSU hasn’t won it (or at least under this coach), so hopefully our guys handle the pressure better and win tomorrow.
Rodesch wasn’t even playing #1 singles at that point, and he’s looked really good over the last stretch of matches. Doubles lineup was pretty different too. So I think there’s some reason for optimism.
What’s the best way to watch? Also, how is it that Boar’s Head sells almost no UVa tennis gear. Saw some guys wearing stuff last time I was there, but it was all “team gear”
@DFresh11 I forgot to mention in this description that they don’t have deuce in team tennis… one of the things I don’t like, but it keeps the games moving.
