KenPom was on a podcast last week (can’t remember the name) and I’m paraphrasing but he said he expected it would be accurate for the top 100, maybe up to 150.
The hosts asked if he would make tweaks in the future, and he pretty much dodged the question.
Edit: the podcast was Locked on College Basketball
So funny… re: mid-major scheduling… how many teams call UVa to “inquire” with no real intention to signing a contract? If I were a mid-major, I’d have an intern call every team in the P6…
Izzo on transfers was pretty standard-issue grumpy coach-speak and then he talked himself into defending the value of being unhappy:
“You know what, what’s wrong with being unhappy? I’m unhappy most of my life. Unhappy drives you. Unhappy pushes you. Unhappy makes people realize, ‘You know what? I’m not good enough. I’ve got to get better.’”
Interesting anecdote about Rohde’s former teammate Parker Bjorklund, from Summit media day
St Thomas forward Parker Bjorklund is the BEST story in college hoops. “First two years of college, I was focusing on my business ventures. And I made enough to buy myself a house.” Bjorklund said. “Then I joined an intramural team for fun, and then I decided to reach out to try and join St. Thomas when they were D3. And now they’re D1, and I’m D1, and here we are.” Not only is Bjorklund playing D1 hoops, he’s one of five players on the Summit League first-team.
Apparently the business ventures were various social media parody accounts.
Gonna tell my grandkids that the FBI college hoops scandal was that Silvio de Sousa once lifted up a stool in anger and Condi Rice made Bill Self watch Peach Jam on a janky stream as the penalty.
