Still dont fear Duke for Kon and as others have said maybe Duke being involved means hes willing to leave home.
My gut says he stays instate.

Interesting that both offers were announced at the same time. Maybe the Dylan Harper door closed and scheyer was like āthrow out an offer to the guy you wantā to each of his assistants

Iād be far more worried if they just offered Kon. But I get the sense theyāre throwing out offers to the ānext tierā of guys. So basically the low 5 stars. I stand by saying I think we win unless Midwest powers come calling. Michigan State or Kansas.

Duke board not even mentioning Kon offer, just Edgecombā¦ and then mentioning that they think theyāll offer Bethea soon. Not that the 247 Duke fans run the team, but I figure Kon might not necessarily be the priority there. And I get the sense that family/distance, fit with roster construction/style/PT, and relationships are the priority. And I donāt think a team thatās not pushing hard and 12+ hours away will get much traction with him.
Also Iām excited for the Evan Flood article about this offer.

About a week ago I was reading the Duke 247 board and everyone on there were slamming Kon. Too slow, canāt guard anyone etc. They didnāt like or want him

I think the new offer would have to be from the right team. Think he generally sticks in the Midwest or comes to UVA because of the Bennett connection. New offers or interest from Gonzaga, Duke, UCLA donāt worry me. Some Michigan State, Creighton, Kansas, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan type offers would worry me more.
I say heās either a Hoo, or heās a member of āinsert Midwest school yet to offerā.
My take is that heād ideally like to stay midwest, but he isnāt thrilled with his midwest options thus far, hence the strong interest in UVA right now.
If no Midwest teams of interest pursue soon, heāll go to UVA. If there is a Midwest team that he likes, heāll go there.

I agree, I do think it has to be the right midwest program though. I think distance is a major factor, but he isnāt willing to compromise the fit. Like I think ideally he finds a midwest program that he falls in love with. But if that doesnāt come, heāll go to UVA because it will seem like the best option, so heāll sacrifice distance for he and his familyās relationship and trust in TB.

Kon has a total of zero lifetime social media posts, despite having twitter and IG accounts. Thatās probably the thing Iām most curious about with himā¦will he post something (a commitment) before itās over haha
I too donāt see him going to Duke. Thereās probably a whole second round coming though and not sure if weāll participate or ask for a verdict before the fall.

Do we have anything to lose participating in it? Seems like we are obviously recruiting for a skilled forward, and then Kon since heās a total luxury. Im no expert, but I wonder since thereās no harm in sticking it out and losing, that we might as well tryā¦. Unless we just figure we have no shot at some point.
HGN, what schools do you think would be appealing to him? I feel like MSU, Kansas, Indiana, etc seem like ones that might tip the scale for him. You think those are the sort of schools that might be most appealing to him?

If youāve been recruiting him you usually have nothing to gain by participating. Heāll either say yes if forced to or never would have. What they have to lose is Bennettās limited time when he goes on the road this fall. Heās never in all the years Iāve followed, gone to see a recruit in back to back falls. The page gets turned.
