Where do you get the unassisted numbers? (never mind - I see you said hoop math)

Not saying he shoots it like him, but Rohde has that dribble dribble pull up from deep like Ty. Always a threat even if it looks like he’s setting up offense. And yeah, McKneely gonna do that too this year

He has excellent footwork and knows how to set up a defender to get space.

Yeah, that’s a reason he could be closer to 40% here. Here are my reasons for optimism on Rohde’s jumper:

  • deep range
  • he’s got various moves to get it off (step-back, etc.)
  • won’t have so much burden here as he did for the Tommies (29% shot there)

Reasons for pessimism:

  • To me, that form looks a little wonky, and a touch on the slow-windup side (but better than I first thought, after I’ve watched a bunch of clips)
  • He’ll get generally taller and longer and faster guys guarding him in ACC play (he benefited from a lot of mismatches in the Summit - generally covered by a guard who he could post up, or a big he could outquick on the perimeter)
  • when he plays high majors this year, he won’t benefit from the “we didn’t scout that guy” effect
  • How good is Andrew Rohde’s judgment? I know everyone’s first instinct on guys that showed bad shot selection at previous stops is “well that guy played on a bad team, so he HAD to shoot those bad shots”, but everyone should consider “well, did he? Or did he think he did?”

Playing all the time now against better players will make him better. Thats how it works

I have very little opinion on 3 point shot percentages anywhere from say 33 to 39.9% When someone takes a lot of them

1-3 of Beekman, McKneely, and Rohde will be the best backcourt since 2019. And I don’t think it’s close.

I don’t have a systematic way of looking at this, but you can filter on Torvik’s website for transfers to went from mid-major (or below) to high major schools and shot a decent volume of threes, and looking at that list shows examples of both guys shooting better and guys shooting worse. Cam Spencer, Andrew Funk, Grant Basile are examples of guys who shot better (sometimes a lot better) after moving up in conferences. On the flip side are guys like Baylor Scheierman, Mark Sears, Bryson Mozone.

Gotta be cool for these kids to sign and then immediately get verified on social media. Has to feel like you’ve “made it” a little.

Rohde is already a legend. He will be better than MJ.

We know that… but will he shoot 40% from 3?

I would be surprised if he shot less than 75% and if he didn’t quit the team by February to protect his body for the NBA, being a consensus #1 overall pick by that point.

You’re an easy man to surprise.

All I know is that Rohde makes 100% of the shots that he doesn’t miss.

Very low bar there. How many wins against Boston College in acc play does MJ have? Jordan? More like Jord-bum.
