I actually see this as a positive. Outside Reece we couldn’t stop other teams guards from touching the paint. Dante brings a tenacity we havent seen at guard in a long time and like Dunn good defense leads into good offense.
Yes
I would guess yes. From very very far away
This is so damn cool of Mike. I’m an Econ PhD student at UVA so maybe the basketball team will snatch me up?!
Props bro.
Man I would love to know what being an Econ Phd entails. I have semi worked with some
I think we can compare this team to the ‘17-‘18 team. Keep in mind our big 3 were sophomores this year.
Reece = Hall —> edge Reece
IMac = Guy —> slight edge Guy
Rohde = Jerome —> edge Jerome
Dunn = Hunter —> push?
Minor = Wilkins —> edge Wilkins
Bench:
Buchanan, Bond, Harris, Gertrude, Groves
vs.
Diakite, Salt, Nigel Johnson
I don’t think our top lineup will be as good as the ‘17- ‘18 team, but I think this team will have better depth.
There are a lot of unknowns about this year’s team, so the range of potential outcomes is wide. So, while I don’t expect this team to achieve the level of success of the ‘17-‘18 team, I think the upside potential is similar. That ‘17-‘18 team entered the season unranked. Guy and Jerome became all-acc players and no one knew about Hunter going into the season. If IMac and Dunn can make the sophomore jump and Rohde lives up to preseason hype, I think those are comparable trios.
There’s a great deal of uncertainty around this year’s team, but I don’t think it’s a huge stretch to say we can become a final four caliber team, if a couple of our key guys reach their potential ceilings. ![]()

Anthony Robinson looks like a grown ass man with some skills. How did he fly so under the radar ..
It’s hard to overstate how much of an edge Wilkins has here. Just a huge huge edge.
Still don’t get it…

It would be a longer (and more shocking) story if he was a Duke football fan and VT basketball fan.
Not really… where was he at the end of 2018?
I think this poll has built in problems. First, the assumptions that there would be complaints about either player suggest that either: 1) the expectations of these players are not that high, and 2) that they may not even meet those expectations.
WRT to Groves, I really don’t expect too much. He may surprise me, but I don’t really expect him to be more than experienced bench depth. I have no idea what we should expect from Dante Harris. The more I read about him, the more I am intrigued. At the high school level, he was a prolific scorer (he had at least one 50+ point game). He is not the second coming of Kihei Clark. If he earns enough playing time to warrant complaints, I suspect it might be as likely that fans will be asking for more PT for him. There is so much unknown about next year’s squad, and there are so many reasons to be optimistic in spite of that. These are the good ol’ days!
I firmly believe Isaiah was hurt the latter half of that season. He took a fall against Clemson I believe and jacked his back up. He was not the same player in the home stretch as he was to start the season. Was sad cause illness had derailed his previous season too if I remember correctly.
But also, in any way blaming Wilkins for how 18 ended seems weird. That was a total team effort and fluke. He was a phenomenal defender/glue guy. I doubt Minor comes anywhere close to his level, but if he does, we’ll be very fortunate.
Just realized how empty my life is when I keep checking LRA and there are no updated threads. Get busy people, get busy!

Agreed. I’d also point to the sad “natural experiment” that was the 2016-2017 season. Look at our performance pre and post Wilkins illness, which really took him out. It’s staggering how much worse the team was with him out.
Be the post you wish to read!!!
I wasn’t blaming Wilkins … I was simply stating a fact…. He wasn’t very good for us in February March due to injury…. I’m hoping Dunn is better this season than that is all. And I think McKneely can be as good as Guys sophomore campaign… I look at both ends of the floor and I think Isaac”s size will allow him to be better defensively.
This is maybe TBs most athletic team. It’ll take time but this could be a verrryyy good defensive team
At least in the last 5 years… The teams that lost to MSU were very athletic as well. Outside of 2018-19, those were the most fun teams to watch. Hope we get back there.
