i don’t know how to define DAWG but i know it when i see it and he is a DAWG.
Would like to pause here and thank Reece for coming back and making this a much more fun and high stakes conversation than it would have been if he were gone.
No clue how old you are but feel free to listen to the old school smash hit Atomic Dog. It explains it all very well
Yet still a really nice kid!
Yep. and nice save by the staff when the expectation that he was done with the program given the exodus of his friends on the team and perceived aversion to school. He had options to play pro and it is remarkable for a lot of reasons to see him back in orange and blue
Agreed. I also think many are over selling the prospect of what Dunn will be this upcoming season. I think he’ll be great one day, but I feel like the leap many are expecting is just too big. This isn’t Dre from yr 1 to 2. Dunn will be a great contributor but let’s not crown him just yet.
I’m fine with guys transferring if it’s because we bring in other talent that can help us win a national title. Rohde presents many of the same problems as Groves (arguably bigger ones from a transfer perspective). But I don’t mind his addition because he could help us win a national title. Groves doesn’t do that.
If groves wasn’t on the roster we would have 3 front court players heading into next year. One of those is a true freshman. You’re complaining just to complain
The issue is that the NBA scouts are handing out crowns like junk mail.
Would be nice to get Dre from year 0 to year 1, though. My guess is what we will get is a less impactful offensive player, but maybe more impactful defender?
Yes he does. National title teams need role players and Groves can be an excellent one and allows CTB to play Bond and Gertrude instead of Taine.
I’m gonna dodge the question and say this is like 2016-17, when all you could count on was London (Reece for next year’s team) playing a million minutes, and spots 7-10 are especially going to be in constant flux.
The way HGN makes it sound seems like our opening day lineup could be Reece McKneely Dunn Groves Minor.
. Other top programs bring in a surplus of talent and let the competition sort it out. We shouldn’t be any different. Really no sense in fretting over transfers out bc they can be replaced.
For those who want to watch the young guns exclusively run PT- Kentucky this year will be a great case study in what can go wrong without veteran leadership/experience.
But the rest of the roster doesn’t have the talent to get there
No I’m complaining because I think we’ve made another decision that could push out top-100 talent so we can be a six seed
you literally just watched san diego state get to the final four. uva has two nba prospects, two legit college guards in imac and rohde, and some nice younger talent behind them. idk why anyone wants to put limitations on this roster when college basketball has an incredible amount of parity.
Because we are one year removed from Villanova, UNC, Kansas and Duke. SDSU is an exception and not the norm.
Yeah, and we have a lot of talent. More than san diego state. We don’t know what is the exception anymore given the instant transfer rule
Very true.
For me while I love Dunn, his offense is no where near NBA standards and unless he becomes a lockdown defender I think the NBA will still be a cple years off even with all the potential.
My expectations are more inline with @haney I think we will see Dunn really become an impactful defender next season, but the jump to become an impactful player on offense is a massive leap that most players don’t make when they are begin from Dunn’s starting point.
