Ok so no excuses when uva dudes get hurt in March… gotta win anyway
Do you think this is the most athletic team CB has had and if so do you think he will finally let them get up and down the floor more then usual to use that athleticism?
Off topic some .. but this dude Jokic is a frigging alien. Ive never seen anything like him. Really who can you compare him with…
Simple. His stats don’t looks good to me. Nothing about them makes me think he’ll be a plus player that will be better than giving those minutes to Buchanan, Dunn, or Bond. So I didn’t want us to get him.
But now he’s on the team so I’m rooting for him to do well for UVA for the sake of the team.
If Gertrude can get acclimated to playing PG… he’ll be Westbrook-lite
And I mean UCLA Russ, number 4 overall pick Russ
Or Morant…without the off court baggage.
That was my original comparison for Elijah. Exactly
Taller and gawkier version of Bird.
He’s a 2 inch taller less athletic less shooter version of prime Larry Bird
No matter how you think the battles will play out, hard not to be excited about the potential. If we lock Reece and Isaac in for 65 minutes per game, then we have 55 minutes remaining at the 1-3. And we have Rohde, Harris, Gertrude, Bond, and Murray competing for them. Feels pretty likely we can find 55 above ACC average minutes out of that group.
In the front court, we have Dunn and Minor taking up about 50 of 80 available minutes. Have to fill 30 capable minutes there. And we have Bond, Groves, and Buchanan to fight for them. Plus the chance Minor and/or Dunn could each play closer to 30 than 25 min. Pretty confident we can find 30 capable minutes out of this group
I see Elijah at uva as the what if scenario where we get Keon Johnson, except 6’3” and a little smoother
I’m not a Heat or Celtics fan so I don’t have a dog in this fight.
I just thought the Heat were the more balanced team, better defensive team, better passing team and overall just a better coached team than the Celtics. There’s no chemistry between Brown and Tatum. Everyone sees it.
Sounds like if Jarin reclasses it won’t be to UNC. They had his post UNC visit interview on the 247 site. I don’t think I can link here tho.
Hurry up, @Cuts_from_The_Corner, I’m in danger of doing some work on a summer(ish) Friday, and I need a reason not to:

My Jordan Minor feature should be out tomorrow morning-ish.
My thinking as well. That said, I think Elijah has as wide of a set of possibilities for ‘23-‘24 as anyone on the team. On the high side (top 20% of outcomes), he is starting by the end of the year next to Reece and Isaac as a terror on both ends; on the down side (bottom 20%), he struggles to get healthy and sharp and only plays sparingly. Obviously, I think the most likely outcome is somewhere in between…but none of those results would shock me.

Tracking a Transfer: Jordan Minor – Cuts from The Corner: UVA Hoops Musings
I got you!
Here’s UNC’s front court right now:
| F Harrison Ingram (JR Transfer, Stanford) | 33 G, 27.9 mpg, 10.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 32% 3P% |
| PF Jae’lyn Withers (RS SR Transfer, Louisville) | 32 G, 25 mpg, 8.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 43% FG% |
| F/C Jalen Washington (SO) | 20 G, 5.7 mpg, 2.2 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 46% FG% |
| F/C Zayden High (4-star FR) | |
| C Armando Bacot (SR+) | 32 G, 30.3 mpg, 15.9 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 55% FG% |
Maybe Ingram plays some Leaky Black style 3, he was more 3 than 4 at Stanford. But at the same time Hubie’s got some guard depth to work with at the 1-3 (true guards Davis, Trimble, Cadeau, and Wilcher) as well as a pair of grad transfer big guards (Cormac Ryan, Paxton Wojcik), so my guess is
Ingram platoons with Withers at the 4-spot.
UNC’s “need” if they still have one is a backup to Bacot, especially given he’s prone to minor injuries. Maybe Jalen Washington or High are ready, in which case the front court is full. But if not, is Stevenson a guy who can play the 5 when Bacot sits?
Anyways, long way to say, not sure Steveson has an immediate path to PT this coming season at UNC. Maybe not even next year if Withers (who still has a COVID year after this year by my count) and Ingram decide to play two years at UNC.
Haven’t looked at Bama’s roster, however (just getting started on ACC rosters), but they’ve got a better recent track record for true freshman PT and early NBA entrants. UNC just doesn’t look like the right roster for Jarin. (Not saying we do either, btw.)
Bama just has Pringle who was a deep bench big. All three of their incoming freshmen are listed as either SFs or PFs, but all in the 50-100 recruit rank range, so I assume there are some winnable minutes there.
They are going for Grant Nelson and Arthur Kaluma as well, so that obviously changes the picture in the frontcourt.
EDIT: Missed Bediako staying in, thanks @haney
