The funny thing about Favre is he threw a ton of interceptions in his one season with the Jets and the team just did ok, but then he went to Minnesota, only threw 7 picks and went to the NFC championship game.

That’s the takeaway. (Kinda like the takeaway after Jay Huff put up 16 against Austin Peay in 2017 was Austin Peay.)
Our opponents have been very different; comparing QB performances is apples and oranges. There was the very small sample size of Colandrea plays against the Vols - 19 not well played snaps. And nobody’s forgotten the numbers Colandrea put up against JMU - even the conference noticed.
Colandrea may prove to be head and shoulders above Muskett. He might even turn out to be better than any QB we’ve had here in 30 years. But lighting up JMU isn’t the foundation to build that argument on. One thing it hopefully did was show the coaches they can feel comfortable benching Muskett if he struggles. (I don’t trust the coaches to do that though.)

The last interception he threw for Minnesota with 19 seconds left in the NFC Championship game was poetic though. As a lifelong Packers fan he was dead to me when he signed with Minnesota. Signing with the Jets didn’t bother me. The fact that he kept Minnesota from going to the Super bowl that year made it easier to forgive.

AC was impressive irregardless of the competition. Not nominating him for All-ACC recognition based on one game. But there are athletes that become special in prime time that don’t show it on the practice field. He might be one of those. At a minimum he should get 2 series in the 1st half Friday. Let the performance in games decide the starter not practice time.

It’s not about who is better in a vacuum. It’s about who has a better chance to succeed with the current offensive personnel… and not get creamed every other play.

I think the transfer risk isn’t as high as some people fear. With the NCAA denying waivers for multi-time undergrad transfers as they are, the second school a kid goes to has to be the place because he has to sit a year to go somewhere else.

I’ve got some LDS friends/acquaintances w/ affiliations to BYU and I really wanted the Bronco thing to work, but I think the reason it didn’t work, for me, is encapsulated in Bronco’s horse / recruiting thing. He thought how a kid who didn’t know horses responded to a horse was somehow telling? I really think that’s just a really bad way to evaluate someone, unless you’re goal is to try to figure out whether that person likes horses.

In Virginia, she said, Mendenhall had a bookshelf filled with a variety of books. When players asked for advice, he gave them a reading assignment. “The players would come to him and say, ‘Coach, what about this?’ And he would say, ‘Well, I’ve got a book for you,’”
So kids would come into Bronco’s office looking to ask a question, and he’d be like, “yo, kid. Ever heard of a library? Go read a book and then we’ll talk.” And we wonder why he wasn’t charming our donors out of their $$…
