That bs and having kids go on a horseback ride.
Well done, way to connect cbm

I don’t really care about the horseback rides because he won football games unlike his predecessor or his successor

That’s cool and all, but whatever the hell Coach Elliott does to connect with recruits doesn’t seem to work either.

It’s weird how much our fan-base still focuses on Bronco, but maybe it’s therapeutic to not focus on what’s currently taking place with our football program.

Yeah I won’t pretend that I like stuff like that. But I also won’t be too picky about that since he performed much better than London and Elliot(so far). I think Elliot is far better of a long term fit if he can win games and recruit(which I’m very skeptical of).

You seem to forget that Tony Elliot has a million year long rebuild since Bronco Mendenhall destroyed our program winning 6-8 games a year.
(sarcasm)

I do understand why things were rocky last year, I get it. But this is the year where it’s your staff, your roster, etc. Cant win 2 games and blame it on the previous guy.

Was Bronco fired or forced out, I literally can’t remember? I just recall us pressuring him to fire one of the worst DCs in P5 football

Game thread?

Stepped down on his own.

We have to get 2 or 3 more QBs on the roster for next season. Elliott had all his eggs in the Martin basket and now he has egg all over his face since Martin committed to UMd, but we can’t possibly go into next season with only Muskett and Colandrea on scholarship. We need at least 1 freshman and 1 transfer just to have a depth chart. What other P5 program is looking at a walk-on as their 3rd stringer (and the main backup the last 9 quarters)?

Screw it, let’s go triple option. It’d be fun at least. I love watching triple option teams (damn you GT for firing the last P5 triple option coach!). I’d much prefer watching us lose every game that way than whatever we’re doing now.

He quit because he wasn’t willing to hold his staff to the same standard he preached for his players. And let’s not kid ourselves, the program was in a downward spiral. His staff couldn’t recruit. Apparently neither can our current staff which was built for recruiting.

It’s not so much the coaches as it is UVA.

Yup Bronco took his ball and went home. He woulda had another 2 maybe 3 yrs if he wanted. But he was a hypocrite when it came to accountability.

You also nailed it with the programs trajectory. CTE doesn’t get a pass for what he’s done, but Bronco left him with little. That BA Anae connection caught fire but it wasn’t built to last and even with that .500 was all it could muster. The Oline and rushing attack was dreadful there’s a reason they threw it 60 times a game and the defense was historically bad also leading to 60 passes a game.

Not trying to make too many excuses for TE, but none of our other rebuilds faced an unspeakable tragedy.

100% the amount of things that happened completely out of the programs control have not not helped at all

Does anyone actually know for a fact that Mendenhall quit because he wouldn’t fire Howell? It’s been speculated, but no one close to the coach has ever said that.

Maybe he really was burned out. I’d be if the administration promised me a football facility (as it had done for London and Groh, too), and six years later, still nothing.

You nailed it. We ran out the worst defense of my lifetime and there was ZERO accountability. Offense set records and we couldn’t even get a bowl game. That soured me to the point of no return on Bronco

If we’re gonna suck I’m at least down to have fun with it. Colandrea is entertaining as hell

Have we considered going fcs in football, giving the entire new facility to Lacrosse Swimming tennis and baseball, and spending any leftover gift money on Kon Knueppel and a new mens soccer coach?

Sounds like a recipe to end up like Stanford and Cal…

Nothing happens in a vacuum. There were several things were going on at once and both sides were responsible
