And Colorado (today).

All their numbers are made up haha. Or are so arbitrary that they might as well be made up. It’s kinda sad how popular their account is; people are happy to have the flimsiest excuse to argue with each other/yell into the void.

Why would anyone be a Virginia football fan if they didn’t go to UVa and/or live in Charlottesville/Albemarle/central Virginia? Why would someone choose this life?

I live 2000 miles away, but almost all of my Mom’s side (including my Mom) have lived or do live in Charlottesville. Grandpa was a graduate, Mom went nearby to Longwood. Truly, I did not choose this life. Thankfully our non-football programs are strong so it can be a good life haha.

Some highlights of the season so far if you have missed it…

So far we’ve played teams with a combined 14-2 record. I believe prior to the season I mentioned that we had a difficult schedule.

Crap doesn’t excuse anything but that does give me a ray of hope (yes I’m looking for anything).

Man a picture is worth a 1000 words…

I’m trying to remind myself that we’re not THAT far off from 2-2. If we don’t get the rain delay vs JMU we probably win that one, and we were a pair of stupid penalties away from forcing OT vs State. Can you imagine if we were 2-2 now heading into winnable matchups vs W&M and BC?

I mean, we’re not, obviously, and instead we’re 0-4 heading into seemingly losable games against our worst two opponents.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. This season has been so damn strange. And so many ā€œwhat ifsā€ Granted like you said, the record is the record, but they are a couple bounces of the ball away from 2-2. Tennessee they were overmatched and I’d say the same with a MD team that is better than a lot of people anticipated. But even in those games the Hoos were in it for a while and eventually depth and talent won put. When playing similarly matched teams they have held serve and you’re talking a -4point differential.

The problem is the optics sloppy play and heart breaking losses nothing tangible to grab on to and the reality 0-7 since last season make it extremely difficult to see the forest for the trees for even the most harden UVA fan.

Yeah, Elliott needs some good breaks, but instead he’s only had bad breaks, several of which seem like his own fault, I guess.

For sure CTE hold plenty of blame. It’s so typical of what I’ve seen in sports that when things start going bad they can snowball so quickly. And when you’re expecting the sky to fall every time, it will inevitably fall because those little things are big things to you. It’s an awful spot for a program to be stuck in.

Finding AC is enough for me to give CTE another year. I wasn’t expecting much this year, and tbh, we’ve done better than I was expecting. If we win 2 or 3 games this year, it will have been a success, imo. Bronco didn’t leave us anything to build on… CTE is doing a complete rebuild.

The fact that this is an ā€œifā€ speaks volumes though.

I am loving what I am seeing from AC given the circumstances. He has no OL, no running game and a defense that is not exactly holding down the other team. He is smallish and inexperienced but he is fearless. He has moxie and he can make the throws. IF he continues to get reasonably good coaching and we give him an OL that is not dangerous to his health … he can be part of the an exciting turnaround in the future. I don’t know if that future includes CTE and I am concerned he will bolt for the first SEC team that takes an interest. You can tell the kid loves the big game and moments.

We’ll see… I think we have as good a shot this weekend as we will the rest of the year. Win this one, I’ll feel a lot better about that ā€œifā€.

AC is absolutely the surprise of the year for me in regards to Virginia football. It’s very early but I do like the way CTE has prepared and sent him to work so far this year. I don’t think they’ve overstimulated him and have generally put him in positions to be successful. I’m not as high on AC as some on this board are who have called him Menzel like, but I do think he is an absolute piece you can build around and one of those guys you look back on and his name is littered over the record books and he helped usher in something special.
