Can you imagine AC with a credible line, some semblance of a rushing attack and more than 1 capable receiver?

I’m sure he daydreams of that as well. Will be interesting come portal season…,

It’s probably not at all worth rehashing this convo again, but I think that’s a little unfair. London left a train wreck of a program with hilariously imbalanced classes/positional depth. Bronco left a fairly competently put together team that just wasn’t particularly talented but had fit what he was doing alright. There’s a reason there were expectations going into Elliott’s first year but zero expectations going into Bronco’s first year - it wasn’t as bad (at least as I remember it).

Now the o-line is the one weird case where yes, Elliott inherited basically nothing. But that was a perfect storm of dudes graduating, new transfer rules, and Elliott himself saying he should have tried harder to keep dudes. There were some ok guys committee - eg Gentry I think - who then went elsewhere. So that snowballed into a disaster, but I’m not sure that on its own suggests the cupboard was bare or Elliott needed to do a complete rebuild like Bronco actually had to do.

Anyway, I don’t know why l typed this. This is such a useless debate, haha. Ignore this! If you’ve read this far, you’ve made a huge mistake.

Can you imagine any competent Div1 P5 QB with those assets?

He’s exciting to watch, enough so to keep me involved this year. Not sure I’d watch as many games this year if it weren’t for AC, wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the same for some other fans. I agree with your entire post, btw.

I think what helps is that he is still turnover prone and that im not sure there is any school out there that is going to promise him the starting spot. On top of overrecruiting him at the chance they get. As exciting as Johnny Manziel was I dont think any $EC school is thirsting for a 5’10 chaotic qb to build their program around

AC is from Florida. UCF, USF … others will tamper for sure if he posts some decent numbers this season.

That’s what makes him feel perfect for UVA. Chaotic and small enough that he’s maybe not desired by the top dogs…. But good enough to put us on the map(that’s assuming Elliot gets fired at some point and we keep AC after that happens).

That’s probably more the range but USF is just as bad with another Dabo coaching tree failure. UCF could be a threat for sure but idk their qb situation.

He’s got a cult following on grounds and amongst UVA fans. Unless that changes, he’d be crazy to go anywhere else.

He ain’t going anywhere we can all rest assured that AC is our guy. Wanna know what happened last time UVa lost a spunky QB with moxy to another program? Ask NC State how they really feel about BA and his 6ints on the season.

In all seriousness I agree with @Wahoo1919 AC is a spark and a personality that brings life to a team that is desperate need of life on the field and a personality to grab on to.

However, his numbers are not lighting up the scoreboard in a manor that another P5 is clamoring to bring him in as the missing piece. @Hooandtrue hit it on the head. The list of teams lining up to grab him at this point is likely very short. AC is completing 62%(68th) of his passes for 925 yards(56th) 5TDs(72) and 6Ints (top 10).

Can he improve? Sure, but do 70% of P5 programs have a clone of him on the roster currently? yea…

I’m not sure what this means but the fart work appears to be paying off for him.

That period-8 ruins a really good time.

He does break wind on a lot of his passes.

True freshman on a bottom 25 talent team. Doing so in a pro style offense where he wasn’t getting first team reps until week 2. Not on 70% if rosters in my mind.

I agree that top programs wouldn’t take that chance. But there is likely a good set of middle-of-the-pack to upper middle-tier teams that could see him as an option.

Agreed more than likely that’s after Year 2 unless AC wants a jump early knowing that Tony likely not around for his Junior campaign.

The thing holding me back from embracing some very positive signs are the issues you and others have pointed out in the close losses. The lack of discipline in critical moments just gives off the London era vibes. The team is playing hard for CTE and staff, which is optically an improvement from last year, but man I feel like I’ve seen this movie before. Still, early in his tenure but I am very hesitant to be optimistic.

Zaccheaus with a TD tonight. Quietly making a nice paycheck in the league.

This is actually kind of funny given how desperately this staff wants to be able to run the ball. (And yes, I know game scripts and playing from behind play a role, but it’s still mildly amusing to me)

Since we’re cherry picking and I like to stir the pot. This is why the staff wants to run the ball. AC is also leading the conference in a stat that is not so impressive. To your point playing from behind poor line etc. Also plays into this.

Yeah, I mean, its not JUST the QB’s talent at work, but so far Miami, Louisville, and surprisingly GT are getting the best play out of their QBs (and then maybe FSU a distant 4th), but Colandrea is in the next pack down with Maye from UNC and Shrader from Syracuse. That’s pretty solid work.
