Agree. Sports can be cruel sometime. And Muskett may still have time to shine. Remember it was Drew Bledsoe who beat the Steelers in the AFC Championship game in 01 not Brady.

You have to be able to stay on the field. It’s cruel, but a player doesn’t do you much good if he can’t play.

Per Mike Barber, Elliott said he expects Muskett to start Saturday at BC. Has been hurt the past 3 games with a shoulder injury and is expected back (which we all knew about). So is this another week of put something out there and go with Colandrea at game time or is Muskett actually getting run?

*Edit: someone else put the tweet I was referencing above, sorry about the double posting

If Muskett gets the nod on Saturday not sure I understand that. He’s been out a month at this point and I imagine AC has taken all the first team reps and clearly has a good relationship with the team.

Flip side is the team is 0-4 so I could see the argument for wanting to shake things up. But not sure I would pull the trigger on that just yet.

Might be a situation where you give him 3 series to move the ball and put points on the board. If it is clearly a step down make a switch.

Had that thought. Could be a good spot to get him some minutes and keep him involved. Like I said earlier I think they will need Muskett at some point this year.

With Muskett getting the start, AC can technically still RS this season, right?

I do feel bad for Muskett and I’m happy to see him get his shot…. But I’m not sure if I agree.

While everyone argues about this I’ll be throwing a tantrum in the corner about Furnish still being 1st string on the depth chart

This HAS to be morbid fascination on the part of the coaching staff to see what new ways Furnish can come up with to lose games for UVA.

AC has played in 4 games but not sure he’s reached the maximum number of quarters allowed. So to answer your question yes he could Red Shirt the rest of the season. Which as much as fans would hate it, that may be the shrewdest and best use of the rule.

This was my first thought. Save Colandrea’s 4 years/dont waste a year in this abomination of a season. Kinda a flip from my previous ā€œplay Colandrea for the futureā€ stance but we clearly have nothing to gain. Might as welll let Musket ride his final college season and next year build the colandrea legacy

Yeah, we really need to find some way to keep them both happy. Very few teams get to play the whole season with just one QB. Of course, we are already on number 2, but it is important to have at least 2 next season.

I think we should be concerned about having 2 serviceable QBs next year if only one of them plays the rest of the year (unless injury is the reason)

I agree with @ElliottHoo and @Hooandtrue a potential Redshirt wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. I also would get why fans would sh%t their pants if it happened.

Continuing the trend of this season, nothing is straightforward or easy.

That being said, selfishly I liked to be entertained and Colandrea is the entertaining move regardless of win, loss, or eligibility. Made watching this 0-4 team fun to watch in a sickos kind of way

Inexplicable unless the waterboy absolutely cannot suit up.
