Step 2: Have him and Rohde train with Ty Jerome all summer and do whatever workouts that are having Ty Jerome absolute ball on the NBA like his now after his foot surgery
Step 3: Put them in the Kyle Guy Dojo of shooting confidence that upgraded McKneely.
edit: @HoozGotNext move this to my transfer portal thread wrong thread k thx
We are going to have like 10 roster spots open. Also I need a distraction from the bullshit ongoing at work with current events and having to scrub websites and apps of certain stuff to comply and whatnot.
Today was Camden Heide clips day: would fit really well in the way Byington uses Chris Manon.
I think 4 players that probably make sense regardless of coach to target:
-Bryce Lindsay as a first guard off the bench. His offensive skillset makes sense in every scheme
-Kaleb Banks: Both Odom and Byington like 4/5 out offense. Also think he has a really high ceiling that has yet to be tapped.
-Think Finley Bizjack is a high upside player.
-Yanick Niederhauser. If we supposedly want to be ātop 10 goodā and have a strong āwarchestā, prove it by getting an elite big.
Edit: KJ Cochran is balling out and still grabbing attention with his play. Need to flip him from Santa Clara
Chris Bell, formerly know as Chris Bunch, was the first @Hooandtrue dream recruit. Takes me back to when I first discovered this site at the beginning of COVID.
I also back @Hoohoohoo sentiment that if we have numerous open scholarships, we should use one of them as a flier on Austin Williford. Think he really does have high potential with the athleticism and the 3pt shot coming around. Iāve mentioned before he reminds me of John Blackwell on Wisconsin career wise (athletic āundersizedā wing 3 star with only one power 5 offer but still thriving cause the athleticism and ādawgā confidence translating). Also could be a Bamisile type if Odom is our hire.
Big fan of this take. Not to go full āintangiblesā guy but I think his competitiveness gives him a decent chance to develop into a power conference level player. He looked like he belonged at Peach Jam, especially had a good game guarding Jasper Johnson (top-20 recruit in his class).
Naturally @Hooandtrue managed to cover almost all of the good MD/DC/VA kids. Only name I see in there whoās decent and not on the list is Jaden Daughtry at Indiana State (Richmond hometown, went to Hargrave). Heās an undersized 4 who comes off the bench for a not very good team, but he is shooting 62% from 2 on extremely high usage and draws a ton of fouls. Maybe not a power conference guy, but heās productive at the level heās at.
Silas Demary Jr was last weekās national player of the week.
Heās 100% going to be a Duke Blue Devil next season. Still lose sleep over not offering him and then turning around right away and offering Dante Harris. (Although I am happy Dante got his UVA degree and found a program that values him more).
I really thought we were going to get Silas and he was going to be our Brogdon 2.0
edit: lol who added the diddukewin hyperlink. Or did LRA just automatically do that when I typed Duke?)
In HS he really did look like a wing/big guard playing inside:
He had 25 against Ohio State, you kinda have to comb through highlights though to see what heās doing:
Indiana State looks catastrophically small, I think heās playing the 5 a lot. He looks tricky around the rim though; mostly below the rim but he has a big dunk in there. I guess the reductive answer is that heās Jayden Gardner.
Completely forgot 2 athletic defensive DMV wings that are probably going to be in the portal.
AJ Swinton. Dude was at like 3 different high schools (Dematha and then Oakhil and then Bishop OConnell). On the broadcast last night vs FSU, they mentioned his grandfather and someone else (like an uncle) are UVA alums. Typical low volume stats but solid percentages and a really good athlete. (Boo Williams kid)
Dennis Parker Jr who we didnāt offer because he lacked a 3pt shot and he still lacks a 3pt shot. But also a tenacious and athletic wing prime for an upperclassmen jump and change of scenery. (Team Loaded I think)
If I had to pick one over the other for an off the bench development defensive wing, Id go AJ Swinton. 3 years left, the UVA connection is kinda cool, and I think he has higher upside with his 3pt shot looking more normal
