Added Daniel Skillings, Al Amadou and Thomas Sorber (DeAndre Hunter connection to them/Philly kids) to the portal wishlist and Keyshaun Tillery as a high school flip.

Also added Silas Demary Jr to the pg group if rumors of Mike White wanting a new home are true.

edit: also adding David Punch. Yeah his ft shooting is atrocious but he’s also Uber athletic and a good rebounder and physical inside/the 2nd coming of Anthony Gill/Larry Nance Jr hybrid. Also think there is a Virginia family there that was brought up when he had both UVA and VCU in his final 4.

I am so far away from a basketball expert, but I never liked Stevenson. Watched his high school games and words like “soft” and “low motor” kept popping into my head. No hate on the kid - he seems like a good dude if I remember correctly - but just never felt like he was going to live up to his billing.

Now having not watched Alabama at all I have no idea if that’s the issue, but I’m feeling decent about not having wanted us to land him. I was way more excited the years before about dudes like Bobi Klintman and Jeremy Sochan, but oh well.

Jhamir Brickus was probably the portal target who changes the trajectory of this team more than any other of our targets. Damn. Wasn’t high on my personal list either. Good for him

Next coach really needs to land or find his point guard ASAP and then build around that.

Wow, no kidding on the FT percentage. During the recruitment, I liked Punch because he seemed like he might be the best defender and most physical out of the Hodge/Cofie/Punch trio. Cofie was seen as kinda the compromise candidate between the three of them at the time in terms of skill set.

Should Hodge go on the list too? Or is joining his pops at ODU in his future?

I do not have the will to add a stretch 4 to my dream list at this point and time.

I also remember Bliss having more of a presence both in the post and at the rim defensively than Hodge as a stretch 4 who even played some 5 for that aau team.

I want to overcorrect with athleticism and toughness. I don’t want a stretch 4 or any such finesse-y term.

I like the Houston/Iowa State model. Yeah, maybe we don’t take as many 3s as is optimal because our frontcourt can’t shoot, but we play some dudes on the interior and pound the boards to compensate for it. And because our frontcourt carries our defense, we can play smaller backcourts to get enough skill and offense on the floor.

I often wonder how different the last five years go if after we won the title TB adjusted his X’s and O’s to be like a slightly more polished Houston, because their defensive philosophies and personnel decisions were very similar to ours from 2012-2018.

Did Sam Hauser indirectly destroy Virginia basketball?

DeAndre Hunter. Tony got hooked on that skilled forward, failing to realize that both 1) Hunter still had the athleticism and wingspan to be a defensive monster and 2) Hunter was a 5 star recruit if healthy in HS.

Isaiah Coleman’s last few games. The Fredricksburg, VA wing at the top of my wing wishlist who will most likely bounce from a meh Seton Hall program after his sophomore season there.

Also is it true Mox will have 7 figures to work with EACH YEAR? that would be insane.

It seems to the case

I read somewhere that it was 3-4 mil for 3-4 years, but I can’t remember where I read that and it could be totally unfounded speculation too.
