Yes he she it is
It sounds like 2J.
Itās Pete Gillen, big Bitcoin guy.
Great call. Yes
Iām not sure this is an upgrade for him, but if they land him, another coach better than Elliott will be entering the ACC while we run it back
Edit: Dickert is now official.
Safe to say the only change to this list from beginning of the season is that Elliott is now firmly last?
Oh thatās a good hire for Wake. Probably better than most would expect but investing in football pays dividends in these types of things.
Itās such a good hire. Iām shocked they were able to land him. Things must be worse than I realized at WSU. My only concern with him would be no ties to this area whatsoever, but I think thatās starting to matter less.
I mean itās an upgrade in conference for Dickert, and itās not like Wazzou is a resource rich program especially with their recent downsize.
But man, I really thought heād wait it out for a better landing spot than Wake. Thatās arguably the hardest high major job in the country, seems like a huge risk at this stage in his career. If he holds out another year or two the Wisconsin job likely comes open assuming Fickell doesnāt turn things around.
Yeah thatās my thought. Several Power 2 jobs should be open next year that I would expect him to be a candidate for, and Wake is very far away from that level. I think he sees a rebuild coming with Mateer leaving and doesnāt like his chances of being an attractive option after next season, so he needed to strike while the iron was hot.
No reason he couldnāt jump from Wake in the next year or 2 though. I mean to me itās about resources being P4 vs PAC 2 whatever that means haha. And he can expand his known footprint per se. Get the foot in door recruiting wise on this side of the continent before taking the real prize jobā¦
Wonder if Washington State can still play their bowl game after losing most of their coaches and with substantial portal losses.
Also, our WSU game next season got considerably easier.
Part 2 of that CBS interview with the anonymous donor:
āI really cannot believe when I see on message boards and I see people talking around UVA, āWell, you know what, really weāre never going to be Alabama. Weāre never going to be Georgia, we should be happy just getting seven and five and getting to a bowl game, and, you know, trying to beat Tech once in a while.ā That makes me want to vomit.ā
Look, Ma! Heās talkinā 'bout us!
I knew he was a poster. I approve of the energy.
Golden Al is a golden god. Heād be so good here.
this donation is sounding like more $ than what I thought.
So while I was writing a long post in the portal thread a thought popped up in my head. Elliott so far seems to be most successful at creating a good team culture with guys buying in and generally playing hard and mostly not leaving for comparable programs. Heās not excelling at Xās and Oās or recruiting incoming kids (thatās probably because kids call us a poverty program).
This sounds like early Dabo except Daboās recruiting was a lot better. What propelled Clemsonās success was getting better coordinators. They brought in Chad Morris and Brent Venables. I wonder if Elliott will realize the parallels and do the same thing (eventually before itās too late for him).
But he might be too nice a guy to fire people. Itās a really hard thing to do to take away a personās livelihood, especially someone youāre close to and who you convinced to join you on the journey in the first place. But he has to develop that killer mentality to excel in this profession. And thatās why heās paid the big bucks to carry the big whistle.
