Are we too talented for the Pop Tart Bowl after these portal acquisitions?
A good OL does cover up a lot of flaws. Add Monroe Mills, and I’m feeling good about next year, just because I think we should be able to really control the LOS and run the ball. I’m high on our DL too so just seeing the improvement in the trenches is a welcome sign. Glad the staff focused so much on this
Dare I say… Avocados From Mexico Cure Bowl talented?
I still miss the Weedeater Bowl. That was my favorite.
No such thing. I want poptarts bowl merch with UVa on it very badly.
The Bowls have upgraded from a Weedeater to a Bad Boy mower.
Once again, male modeling steals another bright football talent
Text of announcement:
Dear Rocket Nation
I want to start by thanking you all for supporting me throughout my time at Toledo.
After careful thought I have realized a great deal about myself and my life. realized that life Is no longer calling me to a career in football, but to pursue other passions, namely Male Modeling and being a Movie Star.
After deep reflection I grew to realize that no matter where I was, I was never the best kicker, but by god if I wasn’t the most handsome man in any locker room I have ever stepped foot in. My immense mediocracy at the sport I have dedicated so many years of my life to has so been brought to light by 4 years of underwhelming performances. Through it all, however, I have remained the most cunning, charismatic, devilishly handsome and eccentric man within the two organizations I have graced with my presence.
It is obvious that many NFL GMs and executives may be surprised by this decision as I am widely favored to be a 1st round pick. With this, I say, especially to Roger Goodell, you may breathe a sigh of relief my friend. But remain vigilant.
As I enter unemployment and begin gracing covers of male modeling magazines and Hollywood big screens, l ask that you please keep me in your minds, not as awesome cool guy Mike, but as your friendly neighborhood kicker.
48 out.
If the offense gels and Des doesn’t sabotage us, our schedule sets us up with the (dream fantasy) potential of being next year’s Indiana.
Anyone paying attention to what the other Acc teams are doing in the portal?
That was for last year, article was from June.
Read somewhere we are 6th in the ACC in terms of portal class so far.
UVa is 5th in the ACC per 247.
If you dig into the transfer classes of those around us in the ACC, our incoming transfers aren’t as highly rated but we’re also not really losing much production outside of Fields.
Most of our transfers out are taking a step down while those from Louisville, WF, UNC, etc. are off to P4 schools.
So, our incoming class isn’t significantly better than those other schools but we did a good job of retaining key pieces and filling the gaps with better talent. Still need a CB, maybe another playmaker at WR, but those could also come during Spring portal.
I firmly believe these lists are bullsh!t clickbait unless they understand how well we have done, BUT we aren’t in the Losers section. Gotta crawl before you walk. And the list is also crap.
I like how Clemson are winners because they actually signed a few transfers when they hadn’t before.
I would also expect some Spring attrition among our OL. We have 3 returning starters (Boley, Steen and Josey), brought in 4 guys (Mills, Wyatt, Wigenton and Wilson), have Metcalf returning from injury, Witmer and Sipe started some games and Hartsoe played some too.
That’s at least 8 guys who expect to start for 5 positions. I think you can put Mills, Josey and Wilson in pen on the left. Boley, Steen, Wyatt, Wigenton and Metcalf fighting for the ROG and ROT spots.
Al Golden update for all of us that hope he’ll be our next coach.
Dope our next coach is going to have NFL experience to sell recruits. Love it
