He made a hell of play on a 3rd and long to convert on the ground… hopefully after a championship next weekend he gets another shot in the NFL.

Yes it’s AFP but thought this was a cool and quick read:

This is great:

ā€œI remember one of my classmates once said, ā€˜Oh, today’s my birthday.’ I was like, ā€˜Happy birthday! How old are you?’ She’s like, ā€˜I’m 18.’ At the time, I think I was maybe like 39 or 38, and she’s like, ā€˜Oh, wow, that’s my mom’s age.’ In that moment, I felt very old,ā€ Ferguson said.

I have that realization far too often

Micah Gaffney is headed up here tomorrow (football player just graduated) to spend couple 3 days with Fresh. My kids asked how old he is and then were like ā€œdad is he gonna like you you are 54ā€

Kids: if he likes beeras and NBA Finals he will

Any NYC professionals that have time for him lemme know as he is on the jobby job hunt

AFP basically summarized an article and interview from the Philadelphia Inquirer. I mean, he linked to the Inquirer, but AFP lifted entire sections from the Inky and contributed no original reporting. He doesn’t even block quote. This piece of ā€œjournalismā€ should be called something else entirely.

Now for positivity, here’s Brick speaking for himself.

Also the link to the Inky article so you don’t have to click through to AFP.

Yeah I didn’t do any digging. I’m on Android and Google News pushed that at me. Thought it was interesting so shared

Oh I didn’t mean to imply I was criticizing you in any way. Thanks for bringing the story to our attention, I didn’t know about it and liked reading about Brick. I’m calling out AFP for straight up plagiarism.

I have no idea what the norms / standards are on this type of thing, but it does strike me Graham should have been much more careful and clear that he was mostly just quoting.

It was good of him to bring the story to more UVa fans’ attention tho…

ACC stealing one from the SEC — in football.

The UFL is kind of tough to watch, but this is still really cool for Bryce. Hopefully, he can catch on with an NFL team as a backup.

This should earn him at least a camp invite.

UVa with either the easiest or second easiest schedule in the P4 depending on where you look…

Really need to see 7+ wins this season to feel good about it

Think 5-6 wins is worst case scenario because prob good enough to retain his job but feels like this year is our ceiling with the talent we brought in thanks to a very large donation and the schedule lining up as it is

I’m not sure Carla keeps around CTE if it’s 5-6. Not a particularly compelling resume for an extension

I just want some semblance of a standard at UVA. Groh got fired at 5-7, 3-9 after some successful (at least by today’s standard) years it was clearly unacceptable

5 and 6 are very different. Do you really think they’d fire at 6? I hope for our sake they would, but I’m not sure they would. 5 he’s for sure gone. 6-- Idk… We have been historically pretty accepting of mediocrity. I think they might say he’s showing progress and made a bowl and move on. I know we’re pushing the chips in on football right now, so hopefully they would say 6 isn’t enough, but it makes me pretty nervous to think about. Retention on 6 wins is a worst case scenario in my mind.

@Jerome is right, this is almost certainly his ceiling. Couldn’t line up better. Not sure how he would pull in better players than this year once we’re on ā€œan even playing fieldā€ with the new cap (I actually think we will almost certainly be below average in terms of our financial offers because I expect a lot of cap circumvention that we won’t engage in). I would hope that on a ceiling season we expect better than 6. I want at least 7, and honestly 8 should be the goal. I want our coach’s ceiling for wins to be at least as close double digits than bowl eligibility.

What makes me a little nervous is I don’t see us on any ā€œthese coaches are on the hot seat this seasonā€ clickbait lists. I guess we don’t get anyone any clicks, but I would expect us in there to fill space. Makes me concerned no one has heard Elliott is on the hotseat.

Maybe, but if it’s true that she wanted Bronco to fire Howell because of defenses that ranked 62, 66, and 104 in his last three years, then why didn’t she require the same of Elliott w/r/t Kitchings, whose offenses last three years have been 126, 95, and 107?
