The state game could swing the whole season. They win that and the slew of home games following are very attractive with a chance to really start the year strong

The wife and I are making it to our first game since 2019. Picked the WSU game for the true modern ACC experience.

I have no idea how good state is or suppose to be. I know they don’t have air raid Armstrong anymore lmao.

State was a team i never got a feel for last year. They showed some moments have a younger QB who might be solid.

Yeah State is putting a lot of faith in Bailey. He showed signs but it’s probably for the best that we’re getting him week 2 (still just a true Soph). As always they should have a competent football team. Doeren only has 1 losing (regular) season in his decade+ there…

I think their secondary is the weak spot. I know they lost a decent amount there last year in the portal and don’t really remember any needle moving transfers added in. This’ll be a good early litmus test; very winnable matchup if we play well.

What you think about chandler morris? @BDragon throw in your 2 cents as well. He looks great on film but I know he left this level before.

I wasn’t asked but what I do think is good context to Chandler’s P5 level job losses is both times he lost to pretty good players in somewhat strange circumstances.

Hope not. When was the last time UVA beat NCS in football?

Except we suck at home lol.

He left this level but was also at this level (or better depending on how you view the B12) for a very long time and was far from overwhelmed or anything. He was a starter that kinda got Wally Pipped. Even if we get the TCU version of Morris, that should be a meaningful upgrade.

Sorry I’m late getting back to this… I feel good about Morris. If there’s any QB who should understand what this offense is trying to accomplish, it’s the son of Chad Morris. And I think the veteran presence he now brings with him will be huge. Plus like Embrace and Burnertt said above, his bouncing around previously wasn’t really for bad reason…

My biggest concern here is IF we hit a struggle spot where he’s not performing to expectation how likely is Elliott to pull him? I’m afraid he maybe gets too much of a leash if there’s trouble and to be frank I wasn’t exactly encouraged by how coach handled last years QB situations. But hopefully he plays well and that part doesn’t matter. He’s got a solid arm, is mobile enough and the schedule isn’t exactly daunting. Good vibes over here.

Forgot to jump in on this. Generally agree on Morris. I think he’ll be a fine QB for the Hoos in the fall. Not a world beater but a steady presence and he’ll be able to make plays down the field unlike what we’ve seen in a long time

@JBHoo brings up a good point about the QB rotation. I’m typically a believer in riding with your guy even through a rough patch but I thought TE let AC play far too long last season. On the upside I’m betting that even a rough patch for Morris will still be easier to manage than the flat out bad play we saw at timea from AC last season.

Y’all think he will play well with des calling the plays? That scares me the most lmao.

I’m not a Des fan.

My hope is with the revamped roster TE explains the necessity for Des to open up the playbook and be more strategic in his calls.

I’m not holding my breath but am willing to let it play out to see.

It scares me that Des doesn’t know how to score.
