I literally had the thought that âWe look like the Washington Generalsâ during one of these last two games. I donât even remember which game it was, could have been either.
Real Question âŚ
been trying to think how many dudes weâve had last 15 years who could consistently legitimately go get their own or get into paint and create easy buckets for others? Iâm thinking Ty, Hunter, Brogs - anyone else? I watch St Johnâs last night and they have like 4 dudes that can.
Perrantes in his 4th year.
If he had any semblance of a scoring threat in the paint that season (thanks Austin Nichols) he has an even better year than he did.
Actually Iâll add a guy -
Marial Shayok
And he was so good at it he got chased off to be a near Big 12 Conference player of the year
The criteria arenât fully clear, but Iâd add Gill. He could legitimately bang in the post and manufacture offense when we truly needed something. He also wasnât afraid of anybody out there. And that little up and under move heâd pull drew a bunch of free throws. I have so missed having a player like him.
We have really missed a player like Gill. We especially do this year
Gill is my favorite Hoo. I was referring to guys who didnât need an entry pass usually. But he was money one on one⌠best 4 or 5 man this century.
I donât want to look up the dates, but is Landesberg still in that window?
Can we talk about how disastrous the ACC is?
Like we just got blown out heavily twice in a row where we were really only competitive for 25-30 minutes and could still finish top 6 in the ACC. Honestly outside Duke UNC Pitt no one else in the ACC is scary. Maybe NC State
Which was worse
- 2024 Tennessee blowout
- 2020 Gonzaga blowout with Murphy Hauser Huff
Gonzaga was wayyyy worse, going into the season people thought that team could make a final four. Especially after Murphy got cleared to play.
I think the San Fran game probably tempered those expectations at least a little bit, but Iâm not sure anyone really expected us to get completely overwhelmed by Gonzaga. Our recent game against Tennessee, while very ugly, wasnât really out of the realm of possibility going in.
My counter to that would be that coming out the Gonzaga game you could tell yourself a credible story about how the team just needed more time to gel and that we could still have a really productive season.
Honestly I think that still may be true. That was a terrible team to have during Covid
I also just remember thinking that Gonzaga team looked absolutely unbeatable. And they wereâŚuntil the final game
Also didnât they play that game off of a Covid pause?
Also Gonzaga never did any covid pauses even that summer
Donât think so, we crushed W&M just four days prior. But it was the day after Christmas so maybe some holiday hangover.
And the problem that game was our defense, which was completely unsurprising for a team with multiple transfers in the starting lineup.
It was one them filler games. I think who we and Zags were sposed to play got J McCoyeâd so we had impromptu game with Zags in Houston or some shit
@StLouHoo proly recall better
(Cheap shot at Justin. Not his fault at all that year)
Yeah youâre right. Pause was before Bill and M
DFW.
A season or two later we played Houston at their place (start of a Home and Home), and got boat raced there too. I took off from work to be at that one.
DFW no fly zone for Fresh since late summer of 93
