Nah, we just need a clean break from the greatest era in UVA basketball history. Ha, that sounds weird to say, but it’s the truth. Just need a fresh start, period

This team isn’t going 14-6 in the ACC

I think they can. I think if we had Dai Dai we cruise vs SMU when we were taking back moment.

Also depends if we see Bliss this week vs Bethume and where he’s at.

Is it likely? No.

Not likely

Ron’s comments on Bliss don’t give me a lot of hope that we’ll see much of him, even if he’s medically cleared.

Sure he’s not there just to network for his nxt gig?

A good example of how far our program has fallen is watching Shedrick play for Texas and he’s just another guy and remembering how important he was to the success of our team.

Yeah my good UT buddy thinks Shedrick sucks. Hes very unimpressed.

Ooh, you, too? We need 1 and it’s all my wife talks about.

But what if he wasn’t that important …

It’s such a tough convo, to say that uva has fallen off the last 5 seasons of TB era, because in reality they only are that bad because of how good they’d been… like CTBs last 5 seasons, for as ugly as they were, still won 70% of the games, finished 2nd 1st 6th 1st and 3rd in the ACC and was truly victim of circumstances twice with COVID for NCAAs (2020 cancelled, 2021 paused) all this while having put out 2 lotto picks and 2 other clear nba level players.

That said the concerns are real. Not only is nil stuff a problem for CTB and CTB lite Ron, but even if that was embraced basketball in itself has changed so rapidly in recent years. Packline is designed to force ā€œtoughā€ shots (3’s) and that’s all basketball is now. Beyond that the other staple, the post double, is difficult with the skill level of big men now. Some of it is self imposed by continuously playing undersized guys at either the 4 or 5 spot, but also 5’s are now generally fluid enough to dribble and/or pass out of it.

Even if we had CTB and he arms wide open embraced the NIL/transfer world we live in, there’d be concerns every time they flame out because of the nature in which they lose. When UVA gets beat, it’s very easy to point to not embracing the modern game and using it as an indictment of the program.

I want Ron to succeed. I want Tony’s main goal (even bigger than the national title) of building a program that lasts to be sustained. But for the program to be sustained something has to give, be it innovation from within or a fresh slate. To this point unfortunately Ron hasn’t shown that outside of getting the first years some sorely needed minutes (although it can be argued they need more).

Sorry for the long post, just airing some thoughts.

Lol

I do still like Saunders, he would be a monster role player playing off Beekman’s driving and dump offs on pick and roll.

Yes I remember that exchange lol

Recap of the 53 minute show.
Ames is ok - not too serious - hoping to have him for Bethune.
No Mention of Bliss
Trying to teach Saunders not to foul
Wants to have players and/or an assistant on the show at times this season
Was frustrated by lack of calls for Isaac
Pulled a Tony when asked about struggling to make shots in last 10 minutes - talked about how that doesn’t matter if you can lock ion on D.:zany_face::zany_face:

About 5 minutes of actual content… and his 2 fave coffee shops

Monster? How about serviceable?

That’s awesome news

Prove it, Ron. Make sure the refs understand you feel this way

This is just brain poison. You can technically win a game 2-0, but it’s not terribly likely.

Also heard there was a nice anecdote about How lighting it up at NYU

How is leading NYU in scoring and rebounds and is averaging 15 points and 7 rebounds and NYU is 7-0.
He is shooting 44% from 3.

Saunders fouling easily fixable

But no one asks me

Yep easy fix. Start Cofie and Robinson and then he won’t have to worry about foul trouble in fewer minutes

Maybe. But just keep your arms back. He gets hand happy for cheap ones
