I completely hear you and do agree there’d be folks upset. But I’ve been hoping for a youth reset for several seasons now. I promise I’d at least bite my tongue. If the young guys don’t show flashes like we expect I might question the quality of our recruiting/talent evaluation, but wouldn’t complain about the results on the court (unless it’s because of an obvious bone headed coaching decision, like not fouling in the NCST game). So I’d still probably complain, but I swear it’d be very focused! Haha.
I HATE the idea on this board that in order to develop talent you have to suck…
The young guys can play 5-15 minutes as freshmen and sophomores and then become the guys as upperclassmen. You can supplement veteran transfers to help them.
Idk why people think we need to be a CBI team next year for Eli to develop.
we used to be able to bury the devon halls and darion atkins of the world while they marinated. We play eli 5-15 next year, he’s gone gone
Another underclassmen with barely any stats but I LOVED his game in high school.
Man this woulda been the perfect offseason to blow it up and restructure our entire roster around the Bliss McKneely Gertrude Cofie Buchanan Robinson core.
We should kick the tires with him right? 6’8” forward from the DMV?
Kinda awkward with Cofie coming in.
I do like Jefferson as an add more. (proven and roster spacing wise)
If Jay Wright were at Villanova still he woulda been their perfect small ball center. I remember their forum Nova was strongly involved with him and then when Neptune took over they dropped the recruitment entirely/wanted to go away from small ball (which they had to go back to anyways since Ware sucked and their young center also sucked wasn’t ready)
Feels like we could kick the tires with him for the Jefferson slot. We need a forward regardless and Cofie and this guy seem like they could coexist
Good for him. Makes sense (would take him on our roster for certain spots).
I’m actually surprised to hear we would get a visit given the timing of the re-opening.
I didn’t follow Perry’s recruitment the first go around. I’m curious what/if anything is there to give folks optimism.
On its face, it feels like this would be a very, very difficult pull for anyone who’s watched UVA recruiting the past decade:
Is there a strong family connection between the staff and family? Is there something else about his profile that screams “UVA”?
Not trying to be a debbie-downer, but I’m having trouble seeing how this works out differently than guys like Juzang. Feels like a recruitment that would be very tough even before NIL. But would love someone to convince me I’m wrong.
He wanted to be here the first go around, there are a lot of connections to people in his camps, schools are focused on older portal kids, and our system has been friendly to first year point guards. Even people on the gonzaga forum have noted Tony is not shy about starting freshmen point guards.
That and what has been shared in past VIP threads that at least make us a solid contender. But of course in recruitments you still have to win the actual battle.
We played him 0 minutes and he stayed.
first visit since de-commit, wanted to be here first go around, gonzaga mod says uva is the school he hears most about him.
Perry is scheduled for this weekend. Haven’t heard the exact arrival date though, whether it’s Fri-Sat or Sat-Sun.
I’ll be magnanimous and give Rohde or Harris a total of 8-12 minutes to spell Bliss. Let the guy rest!
Close the deal Tony. Was much more excited for him over Mack anyway.
You’re right. But I’m talking about me not them. I notice I’m less impulsive than the average diehard.
This could be Justin Anderson redux, kinda.
Scheyer offering in 3, 2, 1….
