2024 Class Reachout day (June 15th 2022)

They’ve been talking to Dedan Thomas for a while. Interesting little connection. His dad played at Taft High, Kihei’s alma mater, went on to UNLV.

Haven’t followed 2024 super closely. Is there good reason to believe we are going to actively recruit Ty Davis? I like his game a lot.

In that podcast with @brogdonfanpage on Streaking the Lawn HGN alluded to Ty Davis being someone staff liked in terms of looking at 2024. That and all the VIP thread mentions by HGN unprompted over the months.

That being said I also spam about him. There are other 2024 pgs they are interested in of course, like that Dedan Thomas Jr guy.

what does “spam about” mean? serious question

So if you want an African kid with big-time upside and in the spirit of discussing something other than Power this weekend…. I watched a video about a week ago of a 6’10 kid working out on a rooftop of a building somewhere in Africa. The rim was a truck tire. The tire was placed on the top of the door to the roof with no backboard. Of course the kid made the shots in the video because I’m not sure what happened to the ball on misses…six inches too high and the ball was heading for the streets below. The kid appeared very athletic and skilled. Lefty with decent form on jump shot. The video showed him performing a series of ball handling drills and physical workout/conditioning. He had never played on an organized team. Never been coached/completely self taught.

The kid arrived at Oak Hill Tuesday pm. He worked out with the team for the first time Wed am. Now 6’11 Very skilled. Long. Extremely thin. 170lbs. Very smart (speaks five languages), attentive and works hard. Likely won’t show much but potential this season/year as he learns how to play in a team concept. If he gets to the right college program that focuses on player development, strength training and has patience for the process (think this should sound familiar), this kid couof be really special in four to five years. I think he has more upside than Diakite.

I know it is asking a lot to request to keep this type info to one messge board/group but I would appreciate attempting to keep this to this community…other than it being passed on to the uva staff. As of wed am, no coaches knew this kid was in the country—as hard as that is to believe. I’ll share the video after it’s public this kid exists and is in the country.

Also Oak Hill added one kid from New Zealand. 6’8 wing. Probably a top 100 -125 national player. A second kid from NZ is in the country and will be on campus this weekend. Big kid. And a third, supposedly better than Taine, is scheduled to be on campus in 10 - 12 days. Stanford has already offered and wants him for the upcoming class. Will be a junior when he arrives—if he does make it. So a few good reasons for the staff to have someone in Mouth of Wilson on Sept 9th or as soon as possible.

Maybe this will give the group something other than Power to discuss this holiday weekend.
