Makes sense, we donāt want to be tied to VT and UCLA didnāt want to be tied to Cal, but we donāt always get what we want. (Though UCLA got out of it, but it wasnāt cheap).
It appears that UNC is laying some groundwork and wanting to establish the fact that they should be able to act in their own financial interest apart from NCSU. It appears some heavyweights on the Board of Trustees agree.
Iād rather be partnered with UNC than anyone else in the ACC. Pretty much assures a spot in the big twoā¦I have preferences but overall will be happy as long as we end up in one and Tech gets shut out.
On the slim chance UNC/UVa does get left out, at least weāve still got UNC & Duke for basketball relevance.
Surprised Clemson isnāt in that discussion.
I donāt know if these guys are legit, but if they are, I have mixed feelings. On the positive side, itās nice to know our administration isnāt waiting around to see what happens and is actively working to ensure the future of U.Va. sports by likely earning an invite from the SEC. The Big Ten might have been nice as the more academically oriented conference, but the SEC is in the fastest growing part of the country with huge fan bases, so the future looks bright on that score.
I will be genuinely sad though to see the ACC go. I get it has been slowly dying for years both from a financial perspective and by diluting the appeal it once had as an 8-team conference, when it was unquestionably the premier conference in menās college hoops. But to end playing games against old friends like Wake, GT, State, and even Duke, makes me wistful.
I canāt say Iām looking forward to being Vandy 2.0 in football, but you never know. SEC membership could raise the bar quite a bit and get us to be competitive with the second tier SEC teams like Kentucky, Mississippi State, etc. But it will never be the same feeling I had in the ACC days of long ago.
Looks like Hokies are in concerned mode over what appears to be the train leaving the station
Feel like VT is a safe bet for the Big XII, which is shaping up as a solid consolation prize for a handful of schools. Could see VT, State, Pitt, and Louisville all fit there.
Iām going to have mixed feelings no matter how it shakes out, but it is of paramount importance that we land in one of the Big 2 conferences. I donāt even care which anymore.
2 things we know. The SEC and the BIG have formed an advisory committee to discuss their opinios as to the future direction of college football and what breaking away from the NCAA would look like. The ACC nor the Big 12 were invited to that table. That should tell you an awful lot
Secondly the UNC system has officially met to address the viabily of of a teamās right to bolt to another conference without being tied at the hip to a specific partner ie UNC/NCSU. Many of the published/leaked opinions were favorable for a schools right to pursue what benefits them individually as an institution. I think UNC is just looking for that green light. I think UVA is paying close attention to the UNC outcome. And if UNC indeed gets that green light ⦠a UVA Boared of Trustees meeting will not be far behind.
Probably not true, but interesting all the same.

He has lots of wrong predictions too. You can call for realignment for years and eventually you will be right. I will say this if the Big Tens next two teams are Notre Dame and Texas A&M I will shut up and call him a savant. But instead this will get buried and never referred to again as he will make about 20 different predictions after this. No accountability for all the wrong predictions. Entertaining though.
He posted this 10 days ago. So it changed in 10 days? Or just predict 7 different outcomes and 1 sticks 5 years later and say you are right.
Oh, heās a dipshit. Just posting for grins and giggles.
More like Drunk Uncle!
I think i might create a twitter account and announce new conference movers every day for the next year⦠and each day change the prediciton
Blind squirrel sometimes wins
Yeah, Crispino and drunk uncle were a little samey-samey, but Iāll take it to the critiquing old SNL casts thread
Cake day for the LRA @jazznutUVA
Happy Birthday @jazznutUVA!
Not a fan of this, despite it being likely better for us on the balance:
Context is that the NCAA fears power conferences splitting off and making their own tournament and power conferences (shocker!) think more of their teams should be in the tournament each year.
