I almost NEVER give in to this sort of thing but this is so insanely stupid that I couldn’t contain myself.

Wisconsin…I cant.

Reece is not only going to return to college past the NBA draft withdrawals deadline and transfer 1 months past the transfer deadline, but he’s going to also transfer to the school that plays almost exactly like us whereas the case would be made if Reece were to transfer it would be somewhere more open court offense wise…

In a nutshell, why you should never trust anything he says. He’s admitting that he makes no attempt to verify information. He doesn’t know if it’s true, and apparently he doesn’t care. All he does is repeat gossip.

My working theory is that Graham’s source is actually stuck in a Groundhog Day-style time loop in May 2023, so he thinks he’s passing along relevant news.

I will admit if you aren’t knee deep in this world, it wouldn’t be hard to make the incorrect assumption that players can return to college if they go undrafted. The NCAA passed a rule several years ago allowing it, but it was contingent on the NBA changing their rules so that those undrafted players couldn’t be signed midseason. The NBA didn’t change, so the NCAA rule was never enacted. But if you search google for can undrafted players return, you’ll get lots of articles from that time period suggesting they can.

So this is all just a case of these dudes blatantly not understanding NCAA rules. Rules which they could call somebody and verify in like 15 minutes. That is sloppy as hell.

Nah they just know that the majority of people dont know so they are kinda pulling a fast one is all

Also, not to harp on this random detail because I know there’s not a ton of info available on this out there - but I do love the salary range provided here. “Anywhere between $40,000 and $500,000”. Quite the range, haha.

Doesn’t help that Google is a pretty bad way to google things these days.

Why do we believe the NCAA has the ability to keep someone from coming back to college if they are undrafted and have eligibility? They can’t enforce any other rules that restrict players.

Beekman isn’t coming back but the NCAA can’t stop him as long as he sues to force them to let him play.

Or just shows up and plays ha. Would be great NCAA says no and opening night starting at guard…!

Not quite true, the St John’s players that asked for an additional year because the Ivy League didn’t have a 2020-21 season lost their case for an injunction after their waiver got denied.

Note that the article does use the imprecise description of the COVID plan as “granting an extra year” when it was really just a free 2020-21 year in terms of counting against eligibility.

It’s pretty fucked up to get a casual fan who doesn’t keep up with all of the different NCAA rules and bylaws’s hopes up by telling them our best player might come back for another season when he objectively can’t.

Right? I mean, I know that I am way more connected and knowledgeable than Chris Graham , yet that tool has created his own internet persona that people link as some sort of inside info. I thought that Jerry Ratcliffe had finally ditched him like everyone else has as a reliable source but have been disappointed to see that Jerry has recently quoted him in some of his articles. Jerry is playing golf too much and has become lazy in his reporting. Before the Internet, Jerry was the Man and deserves his hall of fame rep, but he needs to get out of the business now. I’m amazed how gracious Coach O’CONNOR is to Jerry despite the article that Ratcliffe wrote after Oak was hired ripping UVA for the hire and not hiring Mike Cubbage. I get texts from friends across the country asking me about crap that comes from Graham and Ratcliffe and they are finally believing me when I tell them to discredit anything they read from Graham. Okay, vent over for now.

In terms of Jerry it might be dont hate the player, hate the game.

What he was great at years ago is long gone. He still wants to be involved obviously and is a good guy

Edit: not saying you are wrong
