Ham should be 2nd . They have been down the last couple of years but duting his time FSU was good consistently
Any news on the NIL tournament we were linked to a couple months back?
Why do we keep getting VT thrown into these with us?
Cousin Eddie loves to draft in our wake. Preview of when they’re stuck on our coattails in the next round of conference realignment.
Went to CFG last year for a concert. It’s a pretty solid venue and close to the harbor. I think they rebranded and refurbished recently.
That’s five high-visibility non-conference contests now on the books:
- Nova in Baltimore (N) Nov 15th
- Baha Mar tournament Thanksgiving week (N): two of St Johns, Tennessee, and Baylor (Baylor, St. John’s, Tennessee & Virginia headline 2024 Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship – Baha Mar Hoops)
- ACC-SEC Challenge due for (A), first week of December
- Return visit from Memphis (H) - late December again?
My guess is, like last year, we balance out the five headliners (3 neutral, one home, one road) with five home buy games. Only one I’ve seen so far is American visiting us on 12/22.
With all those on the book, willing to bet we aren’t participating in that Vegas NIL tournament we were loosely linked to last month, unless it replaces our Bahamas trip: (College basketball NIL tournament, explained: What to know about new event with up to $2 million in NIL deals | Sporting News)
Some solid games in there, though not a lot great ones for the home crowd
Excellent schedule. NEED Perry and a forward or two if we’re gonna compete this year
Unpopular take, but I’m betting our young roster is going to struggle in Nov and Dec this year. Going into Portal season the hope was to take proven veterans at the 1 and 4, guys like Chuck Harris and Maliq Brown, guys ready to lead a team against a High Major gauntlet. Instead going with guys like (maybe!) Perry and Amos, guys with great long term upside but light on relevant high major experience, tells me it’s likely going to be a growing pains kind of season.
That said, the hope is that a non-conference like this helps the talent grow up fast for a strong run in ACC play, like the 2013-14 season where we took tough L’s in Nov/Dec but turned a corner in January. Fingers crossed.
More 2012-2013 than 2013-2014 imo. it’s going to be rough sledding, but hopefully we can all appreciate the glimmers of hope and exercise patience
They’re a time slot hit. Like Kenny Banya!
Totally agree. I think even if we get Perry and a legit wing we’re a bubble team. Non con we probably get hammered and hope we get hot through ACC. Can’t replace Reece with two freshmen and he was leagues above anyone for team MVP last year
Our backcourt will be very talented but very young and unproven, while I preferred Perry I think at this point we should be looking to 25-26 with hopefully a good core of Perry/Gertrude/IMac/Bliss/BB/(transfer F with multiple years of eligibility)/Coffee and maybe add a key transfer next offseason.
For 2024-25 we are returning 44% of our minutes, per Torvik, which is still bottom-third in D1, but depending on the adds we have a chance to return upwards 80% of the minutes in 2025-26. And we are still one of the younger teams in D1. Obviously the staff (and we as fans) want to be as good as possible every year, but I’m hoping that 2024-25 sets the foundation for a really good 2025-26 team.
Also, 2024-25 projections are up on Torvik now. Take with extreme grains of salt (salt mountains, really) while rosters aren’t even close to being final. But it does mean that when you use RosterCast to add guys, you can get an extremely rough sense of how impactful they are for a team’s overall strength.
Saw this thread and thought I’d share. Feel like Tu has remarked similarly about an added assistant coach, albeit differently

Jonathan Sher = Tu?
Exactly how I pictured Tu
More smoke about Tony looking to change up his offensive philosophy.
One of the main takeaways Lewis had from conversations with the staff during the visit was that they are looking to change their offense in order to score more points.
“They mentioned many times that they are willing to change,” Lewis explained. “They know they have not had the best success in the tournament the past few years so they know they have to change some stuff to get more points. They mentioned to me about letting their offensive players become a little more free.”
