Are they doing Europe trip this year?

Feels like Saunders is a pure four, Power is a 3/4 and Cofie is a 4/5. I am not sure Cofie plays a ton next year but there is space for him soon enough. And if the young front court of Power, Saunders, BB, and ARob are just way too good for the top 100 player to get minutes that is probably okay. These are no longer one year rentals shoving the young guys out of the rotation

Rules say you can only do it every 4-years… you know a one time trip for a player because players stick around 4 years. :joy:

My guess is Cofie will take some time but seems to have lot of tools to be really good eventually. Ii think we saying same thing

I want to be the player who transfers every season to get 4 European trips in my college experience.

My favorite thing from the Cofie clips is that he can dribble and pass the ball. I’d be really curious some day (maybe not next year) to see him at the 5 with Saunders at the 4. I think if he develops he could provide some interesting wrinkles with the skills he has for a 4/5

Lineups are going to be interesting as they have a lot of combinations available to them. I think any combination of perimeter players is live as long as one of Warley and Bliss are on the court. The frontcourt is slightly more formulaic with the split between our 4s and 5s, though I’m guessing there are some Power-Saunders smallball frontcourt minutes they’ll want to get to.

Read the other day that lots of schools are foregoing foreign trips to shift the funds to…..NIL

I’m really excited about Cofie. I think he’s big enough to play the 5 but can put the ball on the floor and pass as well. Looks like he can hit the occasional 3 to really stretch the floor. My only hope is he doesn’t redshirt and gets some quality minutes to keep him around. But I’m guessing if he doesn’t redshirt Sharma definitely does? Man I’m pumped about this team. So much potential and talent.

I don’t think anyone really needs to redshirt unless they want to. It will be a battle to get a lot of run (doubtful the rotation is 12-deep) but guys have been willing to risk ending up deep on the bench without shirting.

I think A-Rob was a good use of a redshirt. Bliss’s was acceptable. I don’t think redshirting guards makes much sense absent a reclass or injury. Even if they’re from Canada.

Yesterday’s adds make Cofie less important next year, but I’d like to see him get some game minutes for his own experience and for our scouting purposes. More minutes would seemingly be a luxury.

Also, what’s the Carlton stuff, Fresh? He played in Seattle and in EYBL. He didn’t play in Idaho and the Starbury circuit. (There should be a Starbury circuit)

Yea, young kids could just not play that much. Radical concept.

Every single uva fan’s (and coaches - but at least they do me the small mercy of not coming on here and arguing with me about their nonsense) brain is absolutely broken on this redshirt nonsense. Sole exception being mine, which was broken long before Tony managed to convince a large portion of our fanbase that redshirting is a good idea.

I want it reflected for the record that I did not raise this issue so don’t blame me.

You know who’s the guy I think of most with this concept? Kody Stattmann. Basically, be like Kody.

All highlight videos i have seen of Cofie he is a foot taller than everyone is all. Moves well and smooth though at young age for a big

I like a redshirt if the option is senior year of high school or redshirt freshman year at UVA.

Otherwise, no.

I’m for redshirting as long as it’s forced redshirting. Some people say the practice is not very humane, Geneva Conventions and all that, but I guess I’m just old school.

I’ll say that players like Jason Williford should be redshirted, and nothing about the new rules changes that opinion.

Totally on board with this. Any 50+ dudes we sign should totally take a redshirt year and probably get a full physical work-up every day before we send them out there.
