Four-game losing streak on the lineā¦

Huh, I missed us getting blown out by Boston College.
This is all starting to feel pretty mediocre.
ā¦

Tied at the half on our home floor against a 4-7 MEAC team.
Which players are injured?
Vaughn is out, Noyan obviously less than 100%. That being said the whole is less than the sum of the parts that are playing. Sloppy.
Dunbar got a start with Hurd and McGhee coming off the benchā¦interesting.
So this was Bethune-Cookman all over again. Trailing early in the second, then finding another gear and winning going away.
Maybe both games were just exam-break rust/malaise. But man we gotta turn this ship around.
Then the team had 3 TOs in its first 5 possessions, two of which were Dumbarās fault and the third was a bad pass to Dunbar that got picked off. So, she was subbed out like 2m in and only came back briefly much later.
After the half break, it looked like Mo said āOh, F thisā and took things over.
One thing we were discussing is UMES was TINY and if Coach Mox was trying to go small to match them. The start was bad and the team was out of sorts, especially since UMES opened with a pressure defense that unfortunately worked well (the refs also let a crazy amount of contact go uncalled).
But then late in Q1, Mox rolled out a Lauterbach, Lattimore, O, Hurd, Mo lineup where the second shortest player (O) was taller than the tallest player on UMESās roster and just bludgeoned them. UVA went on like a 14-0 run, totally abusing UMES inside. It was nice to see, because it was the kind of āmaking the other team contort to counter usā rather than the other way around, that CTB never seemed to do.
They turned it over a million times still, but once they started turning UMES over, too, and took over the boards, everything was fine.
Noticed the size upgrade in the second half definitely agree that was the turning point.
Iāll never sh%t on a win but even with the team playing better in the second half it felt like it was based on out physically gifting UMES than great play. Not to say the team didnāt play well, but it felt like they played well because they were taller or faster and had enough of the skill edge to out perform UMES. That performance still wonāt be enough for ACC play. There has to be another gear, or scheme or something they go to.
Watching them play is the same as what if 50% of all the passes were one handed McKneely passes ⦠just brutal lack of basic fundamentals in passing technique and decision making
Mox being uncharacteristically tight with the rotation. Nearly the end of the first half and weāve seen only 7 players. Though Grays and V-P look about to sub in nowā¦
Hoos up 47-29 at the half. Lattimore with 16 points.
Coppin State doesnāt seem to be very good, theyāve missed a lot of threeās but weāre also dominating on the boards.
Coppin State crawling back into the game, now 60-50.
Torvik has CSU at #166, which is leaps and bounds better than our other buy games (all in the 300s). Our guys canāt afford to go to sleep here.
Now 64-58 with 6:21 left.
Weāve played like dogshit in the 2nd half.
20-4 CSU run over the last ~8 minutes
Edit: Make that 23-4 and the 20-point lead is down to 1

Going 2-2 from three in the last couple minutes allowed us to escape with the win.
I hope weāve learned that even with a 20-point lead you gotta keep playing!
