When I was in college two girls who were on the field hockey team that were in my Physical Chemistry class were asked to try out and walk on to the softball team because they needed bodies. Unreal reversal of program if true

This article says last time was 1995, which was the only time UVA ever made the ncaa tournament for softball.

I haven’t paid any attention to our softball team in… how long has it been… let’s see, carry the one… apparently never. I guess it’s time for this fair-weather fan to start watching!

Every time I watch a fast pitch softball game… I can’t fathom how hard it is to hit that ball with all the motion those girls can get on it.

So question as somebody who also hasn’t followed: if we’re top 25, would we be forecast to be in the NCAA tournament? I’m assuming so, but have no idea where I’d look to tell what direction this season is actually headed beyond just looking at our record.

14 conference wins should get us in. Big series at Palmer Park this weekend versus the Wolfpack.

After dropping a heartbreaker 1-0 in 12 innings last night at #3 Duke the Hoos bounced back today to take both games (4-3, 3-2) and win the series.
Virginia is now 30-15 (13-8) and finish with a game @ VT this week and a 3 games series at GT.

Tennessee will host Dayton, Miami (Ohio) and Virginia in a double-elimination regional at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. The Lady Vols will play Dayton (33-19) on Friday (2:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+), and Miami (48-7) and Virginia (32-18) will play in the first game Friday (noon, ESPN+).
The elimination game will be the last game on Saturday. The championship will be on Sunday, with the team coming out of the losers’ bracket having to win twice.
The regional winner will move on to the May 24-26 super regional, where it will face the winner of No. 14 seed Alabama’s regional, which has USC Upstate, Southeastern Louisiana and Clemson.

Bottom of the second and UVa is up 1 - 0 on Miami (OH)… Sac fly with bases loaded in first inning got us the run.
Two out two RBI single by UVa. Now up 3 - 0 after 2 innings.
Miami pitcher can’t hit the zone at all… already 4-walks… but got bailed out in the first on a double play with the bases loaded.

UVa did get thrown out stealing.
Bottom of 5th… still 3 - 0… Eden Bingham, the UVa pitcher, has 7 KOs and has allowed only 2 hits in the game.
