Destroying Liberty round one would be hilarious. Fuck that “school” and their sportswashing bs
Heard some chatter that there’s a chance Duke may prefer Philly.
So Michigan actually submitted for Philly as their preference despite Buffalo being closer should they finish high enough. Can’t remember if this was on Eye on College Basketball podcast or ESPN segment but with the 1 seeds getting to choose where they want and Duke taking Greenville probably, Michigan wants Philly.
no I know but from what I recall that is just #1 overall. I am not 100% confident on that though
Edit: looks like it’s #1 overall
ahh didn’t realize only #1 overall gets that, just assumed 1 seeds in order get to pick. Too many rules to keep up with.
Alright did some mapping out…I think a lot can shift around for a variety of reasons but I think if I were betting we’re either Tampa or West Coast bound. But also a shot at Greenville.
We end up in Greenville depending on where Bama ends up seeded and the 5’s (Bama would match up against UNC given conflicts with other projected 5’s - chance the committee moves them to Tampa to avoid UNC homecourt advantage while we get one of the SEC teams).
Buffalo: Michigan, Michigan State
Greenville: Duke, Bama
OKC: Houston, TTU
Philly: UConn, Purdue
St Louis: Illinois, Nebraska (or Iowa State/Kansas)
San Diego: Arizona, ?
Portland: Gonzaga, ?
Tampa: Florida, ?
Seen a lot of brackets sticking us in Portland. Would just like to stay east of the Mississippi.
Everyone has to remember the bracketing principle of total sum of overall seeds among top 4 in each region have to be close to each other.
That’s why it’s better to move to 13 overall than 16
Yea so realistically the only way to stay on the east coast (non Tampa) is to finish ahead of Bama
closer to their native territory of New Jersey
This is what I mapped out too. You could also swap around any of the 4 teams in Philly/Buffalo and it makes no difference. The Big Ten/UConn fill STL/Buffalo/Philly before the 4 seeds are placed. Purdue is closer to STL than Philly/Buffalo and STL is considered a Big Ten city. It’s possible Nebraska goes to Portland if STL and OKC are already filled, which could open a spot in Buffalo/Philly. Alabama could make sense in Tampa too, if they’re ahead of us. Vandy would take Greenville.
I think the 16th team will get San Diego with 13-15 filling Greenville, Tampa and Portland (or Buffalo/Philly if Neb gets Portland).
If Nebraska is ahead of TTU and takes the 2nd OKC spot, I wonder if they send TTU to SD. That means 16 gets Portland and 13-15 would be Buffalo/Greenville/Tampa.
Lots of bubble games tonight. My commentary on them with my bracket today.
Our seed after Saturday won’t move at all unless we beat Duke
I feel like it’s unfair to opponents to underseed Bama for their using an ineligible player. But they can sure as hell send them across the country to play their games, and their fan base can suck it.
Great day so far with the Bama and Texas Tech loss
Kansas down 20 as well. We play a bad game and are just getting gifts all around tonight from everyone near our seed line.
When does NET/WAB update?
Soon… Warren Nolan site goes blank for about 10 minutes when it does. It’s around 8.
relevant net movement
WAB updates here - I think this is Torvik based: WAB Watch
Vandy (+.49) with the biggest jump with OT win against 91-NET Ole Miss (metrics like them better). We were +.24 with Wake win.
Kansas (-.42) and TTU (-.71) look like biggest losers. Bama (-.28).
Can’t ask for much better results for our seeding than last night. I think a 4 seed has to be the floor even with 2 straight losses. Maybe the highest 5 seed which is just about the same as the lowest 4 seed (and the committee probably flips 15 and us at 16 if 16 would be in Duke’s region anyway, even if they’re not required to by rule).
