I like Kalani Sitake a lot but I’ll always be hesitant bringing a guy whos so tightly tied to Utah and that region.

If he does, pay what you need to pay to bring in Dex at DC and whatever else he wants (AHC, recruiting coordinator, etc.).

I would think we have the money to be fairly competitive for our coordinators. I’d think it will be a matter of if he thinks there are just better career advancement opportunities towards being a head coach some day. Position coaches might get coordinator offers that might be hard to compete with though.

If Rud leaves it won’t be for money. He’ll be getting the HC job somewhere which cant blame a guy for career advancement.

He’s been a co-coordinator for years, just like Elliott was.
But the bigger thing at this point, he’s an excellent recruiter and a demigod in Central Virginia.

The main job that concerns me wrt Rud is Air Force once Calhoun retires. Would expect there to be mutual interest but who knows when that happens.

Ive said it before and I’ll hold to it I rather see Dex work lewrn and grow somewhere other than uva.
Rather see him come home a polished HC and take the big whistle when it’s times.
I think if he came back, it would be as HC in waiting.

Nearly impossible for anyone to loved more than the Hometown hero. CTE or whoever would constantly have Dex looming over them.

Elliott was the lead co-OC at Clemson and called the plays even when Jeff Scott was there. Dex has never been a lead DC anywhere, never set up his own defense, never called plays and was passed over for the lead DC job at Penn State 3 times by Franklin.
My first choice would be to make an outside hire with DC experience. My second choice would be to promote Cox and hire Dex as a co-DC/DB coach.

And if Huepel to PSU, what would Tennessee do? Obviously not Elliott since their AD came out to publicly deny that Elliott was ever offered the job despite no one saying Elliott ever had a job offer.

I think Bronco burned his BYU bridges. And he hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire post UVa.
The Tennessee job being open could be a blessing for the Vols to cleanly move on from Heupel
Like Dragon said I don’t think they’d run back Bronco, their fanbase would riot. I think they’d either promote Jay Hill to the head job or bring back Jason Beck.
Tennessee I’m not sure tbh, Golesh probably would have been the option but he’s headed to Auburn.
