Gonna take a bit to get a true grade out. But Iād say overall itās an upgraded roster. Theres a few studs in key positions.

2s have to step in and the level of production doesnāt drop off.

Did UVA end up losing the Edge who took the Texas Tech visit after committing but not signing?
QB: push/downgrade. Downgrade because neither guy is better than Chandler but not having a viable backup might have cost us a CFP berth last year.
RB: push. Could end up being an upgrade but hard to say that when youāre losing a 1st team All Conference RB.
WR: Downgrade. We may have replaced Trell and Cam in terms of roles, but matching production will be tough. That said, we may not need as much from this group given OL/RBs.
OL: push/ upgrade if healthy. Clear upgrade if Mills and Thomas are actually healthy.
TE: downgrade. I think Sage was massively under appreciated. Cox was a nice get but hard to fully replace what Ennis did. A healthy Dak will help though.
DE/Edge: upgrade. Melton was a star but the sheer numbers and talent we added is so impressive. We wonāt need to lean as heavily on one guy as we did melton.
DT: push. Zion Wilson was a huge addition. Assumed this would be a downgrade but with him plus the Coastal and UAB guys for depth, and improvement from Hammond/Britton, this group should be one of the best in the league.
LB: downgrade. Caveat is the young guys on the two deep will be studs though maybe a year away. Brannon is a 4 star caliber talent.
DB: upgrade and itās not even close. The talent and depth we added is insane.
in total I think this translates to a similar offense and a better defense.

Jamond Mathis from Kent State. Nothing new. Never signed, took a visit to Texas Tech midweek, nothing has come out yet either way. Still listed as a UVA verbal but not looking great without the signature.

How do you clamp down on tampering? Most of them have agents that can be contacted at any time.
The only hope is congress stepping in and giving the ncaa some help. Iām not a fan of that but it seems itās the only option as this point

Lost in all the portal excitement and how we closed is the most important piece of allā¦our OL is stacked.
Had some anxiety at times this cycle but really love the way this team played its cards, especially focusing on locking up the OL first.
