My buddies seem to love everything except the area surrounding base lol!

LR and Bentonville (I know thats NW) are actually pretty diverse (relative to expectation) because of the military and Walmart! Little Rock Central sends a ton of kids to UVa every year. I was friends with a bunch of LR people, not all of them were white.

Never been but I’d take a trip, sounds nice enough. Apparently Bentonville is pretty lovely because Walmart has dumped a ton of money into making it nice. Lots of trails and a cute downtown and stuff.

You can say this about almost any military base in the US.

I grew up in Hilton Head which had a Union encampment during the Civil War. The town around the encampment was known as Robber’s Row for good reason.

All my assignments have had good surrounding areas shockingly.

Arkansas is way more racially and ethnically diverse now than in the early 2000s, not only because Walmart spent tons of money making NW Arkansas more cosmopolitan because they realized that employee recruiting for their corporate office would otherwise be an uphill struggle, but also (and I say this only half jokingly) who do you think is working in the Perdue chicken processing plants?

I read that as rubber’s row initially. Also potentially fitting.

Some members of the Walmart family are very big into cycling/mountain biking (ā€˜One of the weirdest places I’ve ever been’: Welcome to Bentonville, the American city where bikes rule | Cycling Weekly), so they’ve made a huge investment in those trails there. Billionaires’ specific interests driving community infrastructure development, a song as old as however long there’s been billionaires.

Fayetteville has a pretty luxurious public library (Our Space - Fayetteville Public Library), including flight and heavy construction equipment simulators.

Tyson’s chicken but someone has to pay the Arkansas basketball team! They have a payroll to meet.

The Athletic handed out grades for the ACC portal classes. Virginia got a ā€œBā€, which is either 5th or 6th best, depending on if our B-grade is higher or lower than SMU’s B. They liked the additions the Hoos made, but got dinged for losing players. I don’t think they gave Virginia enough credit for keeping the O-Line intact, but I’m not going to rail against the grade too much.

QB Cole Geer’s no longer listed on the roster, FWIW. I know he was there last week when I looked.

He’s there, not sure what you’re seeing.

He’s on the roster on the virginia sports website.

He wasn’t there when I looked a couple hours ago. Went from Fobbs-White to Gibson. Weird. I dunno. Glad he’s still on the team then.
