Not a fan of reducing it to WAB, or even an average of the resume-focused metrics? IMO this is the kind of thing WAB excels at and humans suck at, because the human tactics to reduce complexity like ācompare Q1+Q2 recordsā fail here.
Edit: i thought this comment was more recent so some of my response may not be totally relevant anymore.
I mean they nearly beat Duke at home without Brown and proceeded to lose by > 30 with him at Cameron. And now theyāve lost 3/4 with him.
And itās not like heās missed one game. Brownās injury troubles are a part of who they are. Theyāve played a third of the season without him so that data is part of their ratings. Iām tired of people asterisking that win. We led the entire game and almost half of it by double digits.
I guess Iām not a fan of reducing it to one number, be it WAB, or average resume.
I think their WAB has to be viewed in light of their weak schedule and also in light of squeaking a lot of close games out. Which you pick up more by looking at the predictives.
I know WAB incorporates efficiency of opponents, but I think their WAB is basically telling us that they win a lot. Which you can tell by looking at their record.
TLDR - if youāre going to pick one number, WAB is currently the best one number to pick. But also, just look at the resume. And for that, you need people, flawed though we may beā¦
Miami OH eked another one out! Won by 2. Still undefeated
The Miami OH LRA in game chat must be melting down with such a soft sleep walking performance.
Iād be totally freaked out if I were a Miami OH fan. Every game must feel huge at this point
Miami (OH) LRA probably has 15 different threads discussing the best ways to hex Bruce Pearl
Nate Oates is exploring new frontiers on the basketball court.

Florida is, like, really good. Just in terms of eye test ā I have no idea what the numbers show ā they should absolutely be the 4th 1 seed over UConn. They are qualitatively much better.
I think if the discussion is close, UConn can point to that head-to-head win in December to get the nod.
Iām sure you are right, but anyone can see Florida is a very different team than they were in December. Regardless, they are a Final Four team, and could very well repeat.
I think they are probably a lock with the win today. No two loss team has ever been left out
Agreed - I would pick the Gators today to win it all.
Kids, leave the misplaced and senseless Reed Bailey haterade to the pros

So if you remember people saying the Duke hook and hold challenge should have been a foul on them..
In the Ole-Miss/Vandy game, Vandy just challenged a call for a hook and hold, the refs reviewed, said it wasnāt. But while watching the replay Ole Miss realizes it was actually Vandy that initiated the hook and hold, they challenge, refs confirm, and Ole Miss has essentially called a technical foul on themselves with 3 minutes left in a tied game.
Wes Miller might be getting himself off of the hot seat. What a late season charge by Cincy.
Didnāt he kick off the team and then reinstate Jizzle James?
Still lost to Xavier lmao. Though UC has been getting bitched in the shootout for 25 years, not a Wes Miller thing to his credit
