2025-26 In-Season Outside ACC/UVa Thread
UVA up one spot to #14.
When does the NCAA release top 16? Womenâs were announced this weekend.
Itâs not a coincidence. Weâre clearly playing to the competition as well as the competition getting up against a top 15 team.
February 21 on CBS at 12:30p Eastern. Itâs on CBSâs listings already.
Saturday. I think we are bubbly for top 16 at this point. Obviously we picked up a Q1 win over the weekend but so did most of the teams around us. we should be somewhere between 14-18 on the S-curve. Iâd have us right at #16 just eyeballing it.
Also lol at the one voter who had Houston at #1 over Michigan
I am not a bracketologist at all, but my hunch is that seeding will pretty closely match wins above bubble when it comes out.
Weâre at 17 right now and Duke and NC State are our only chances to really add to it before the conference tournament. Without looking at all of their schedules too deeply, Iâd bet most of the teams around us will have more chances before the end of the season to add to that.
I bet we end up as the first 5 seed unless we beat Duke or have a really nice ACCT run.
The other wildcard in there is how they treat Alabama who is right above us at 16. If they get dinged mayyybe weâll sneak in, but Arkansas, Tennessee, and BYU right behind us all have like 5 good WAB opportunities compared to our 2.
A little disappointing, but I also feel like weâre at least pretty locked into a 5 seed floor unless we throw away one of these we shouldnât down the stretch.
Bracket Matrix has us as the last 4 seed. But weâre closer to the top 4 seed than we are to a 5th seed. Most of the brackets came out between yesterday and today.
If we finish regular season at 27-4 with a somewhat competitive loss to Duke then I think we have a 4 seed locked up. 5+ losses in regular season and I think we are a 5 seed. Crazy that 27-4 record will likely top out at a 4 seed. Iâd have predicted 2 seed at worst if you told me that preseason
I donât see much difference between being a 4 or 5 seed. The 12s are tougher than the 13s, but probably not significantly so. Neither the 4s or 5s are protected seeds that donât face teams playing closer to their campuses and neither 4s or 5s get preference to play closer to home.
The main thing that you want to avoid is playing Texas Tech as a 5. We obviously have 3 weeks to go so things could change, but if you are a 5 and draw Texas Tech as your 4 you are going to be pretty sad.
Yea the top three seed lines are unusually strong it feels like. I think we would need a Duke win (or an ACC Tournament win) to get there. And yea, WAB correlated with the field quite strongly last year.
Donât the 4-seeds get pod location preference? Iâd much rather stay on the east coast for the first two rounds.
No, if I remember correctly, thatâs only 1-3 seeds.
Or maybe youâre right and itâs 1-4 seeds, but by the time you get to 4 seeds, itâs more a matter of getting assigned whatâs left.
Why is everyone talking about round 2? I mean that sincerely!!! Can we plaease get a Round 1 win?!?!?!
In that vein give me a 6 seed against a team that has to play Tuesday in Dayton.
Letâs see. Buffalo, Philadelphia, Greenville, Tampa, St Louis, OKC, Portland and San Diego.
Using current bracket matrix: Michigan - Buffalo?; Duke - Greenville; Arizona - San Diego; UConn - Buffalo or Philadelphia; Houston - OKC; Illinois, Purdue, Iowa State, Kansas; Nebraska - St Louis, then OKC, lowest 2 go to Buffalo or Philadelphia. After 10 teams, 4 sites fully claimed.
Florida - Tampa; Michigan State - Greenville?; Gonzaga - Portland; Texas Tech, Vandy, Virginia, etcâŚonly spots available are San Diego, Portland and Tampa. And if weâre a 5 seed, weâd go to where the 4 seeds go.
Ooh⌠I donât know about that. First Four teams advance to the round of 32 all the time. Thereâs something to be said for getting a game under your belt and only giving your opponent two days to scout you instead of four.
Imagine going back to December when the defense ranked 86 and seeing this
This has felt like an oddly long season where we were kind of a haphazard good offense-bad defense team that became a great offense-solid defense team that has now become a great defense-meh offense team.
We were used to a stable Bennett identity obviously, but this still seems like a really dramatic identity flux throughout a season.
Letâs just beat GT Wednesday night. Itâs easy to start projecting out at this point in the season but itâs Fools Gold. Injuries happen. Suspensions happen. Things happen.
But itâs easy to get greedy because we are 22-3. Letâs just keep trying to beat the next team we play. Still a lot of basketball left for this team.
Nobody is wrong and nobody is right. Letâs just beat GT for nowâŚ. Also fuck Bass Tech and Duke.
