🏀 2025-26 In-Season Virginia Women's Basketball

Just in general in basketball I’d guess that 10% of end-of-game designed plays work as designed, 15% run as designed but don’t work, and 75% look like the team has never run a designed play before or even thrown an inbound pass.

I’ll admit that had we won, that clock situation would have been an unfair way for VT to lose. They had the ball down low with a good look at the hoop when the whistle blew to fix the clock.

I thought both the call on VT and the call on UVA were both phantom calls.

I hope we still make the NCAAT.

if they don’t get in time to change coaches again

Reiss is as big a no brainer as Odom was, all teed up for Carla to hopefully get the hire right on the 3rd try.

(Ohanian and Serena, frustrated that they cant openly bag drop with Revenue cap, take out their financial frustration by buying out Dawn and getting her set up at UVA)

Women’s bracket set. Hoos the 8 seed and play 9 seed Clemson on Thursday in the early 11am game.

Tigers finished 20-10 (11-7). Hoos won the lone matchup this season, 73-63 in Charlottesville on New Year’s Day.

Dawn isn’t leaving S.C. at least for another couple of years. Under a new contract signed in January 2025, she has a $4.25 million base salary for 2026 ($1 million more than Odom) with annual escalators of $250,000 through the 2029-30 season. The buyout is 100% of the remaining contract value.

I find myself in the position of rooting for the lady Cavs to lose their first round game as I just haven’t seen anything from Mox that would indicate she can get the Hoos back as a perennial contender in the ACC (admission - I was all for Tammi Reiss last go round).

Reiss is paid $425,000 per year through ‘27 (contract runs to 2032), with a buyout of $100k per year remains in the term (Six years left at the end of this season). Mox is paid $725k or so and has one year remaining on her original deal.

As someone mentioned, after the obligatory call to Dawn, this should be a no brainer

I think Clemson is a play-in game. (Almost certainly a loss knocks us out.)

And I’m torn. For the sake of the players, I want them to make the NCAA tournament. For the sake of the program, I want to move on from Mox. “Both” would be ideal, but would we fire Mox after she got us to the tournament?

Even after our loss to VT, ESPN still has us in the “last four byes” (along with VT and Clemson). Might the loser of the UVA-Clemson game get in the Madness despite the loss? :person_shrugging:

Kymora made first team All ACC, as expected… and got the third most votes of anyone in the conference!

The All-ACC Teams consist of 10 players per team, while the All-Defensive and All-Freshman Teams consist of six players each.

I can’t figure out how a conference of 18 teams playing a sport with 5 players on the court and up to 15 on the roster decided on these particular number of selections for the all conference teams. 10 I sort of get, but 6?

This is a conference with 18 teams, that plays 18 conference games, yet creates a schedule where you play 2 teams twice and one not at all. I’m not sure logic is an ACC strength.

Credit to the WBB folks, they play 16 opponents once and 1 twice.

Sheeesh they don’t get half of the 3s they made if we closed out under control. Leaves the defense scrambling every time

ESPN’s bracketology has both us and Clemson as 10-seeds, which is honestly better than I expected at this point. I think the bracketology folks gave us WAY more credit for the Louisville win than NET did.
