Mentioned it briefly in another post but I do wonder if coaches advancing in the tournament will effect our coaching search at all. For example if a guy like Pollard is genuinely interested in the job, would we wait around for one to two weeks before we make it official, and lose out on valuable time to roster build in the portal?

Carla’s last-second success pushing for money and making concessions is great, but I wonder if BOC to some extent felt like “If it was this easy for you to do, why have I been banging my head against a wall all these years”

Shaka’s resume is 1000x better than Tom Walter’s sans Corey Muscara, which is highly relevant since Muscara wouldn’t be accompanying him. Just look at Walter’s record from 2021 and prior to get a gauge of his level of mediocrity, and that’s putting it nicely. Wake fans will be super bummed to lose Muscara, but us taking Walter off their hands would be a highly welcomed silver lining.

I haven’t had a chance to read through everything but what about Oregon State’s coach?
Feel like there has to be an elite coach at a non ACC/SEC school who will see UVA as an obvious upgrade.

He’d be fantastic, and the conference uncertainty would certainly be in our favor. But he’s also an Oregon State alum and I think OSU still has pretty good donor support for their program leftover from their golden years. Will probably be a hard pull because of that.

Exactly, my main gripe with Carla here is the fact that she only seems to get the wheels rolling on donations and fundraising once it’s already too late. For football, it took three bad seasons with Elliot at the helm to garner support for NIL spending in a win or go home year for Elliot. She lost any momentum the AD had from the Bronco years by not pressing donors after the hire. Looking at baseball it seems like Carla and Oak haven’t been on the same page as far as funding for baseball for quite some time. Why not work to keep your title winning coach happy, especially when you know he has flirted with other jobs over the years? I do think it’s an indictment of the job she’s doing when you have coaches who have been here their entire careers who are now unhappy with the way things are shaking out financially, especially when it seems like one of her strengths is fundraising.
