Wake’s pitching lab opened in 18-19, Wake baseball got a big donation in 23 and more money and resources generally since the lab opened.
So it could be Muscara’s influence or it could be more resources generally or it could be the lab gaining notoriety. I’m sure being the baseball coach at the smallest school in the P4 and one of the most expensive isn’t the easiest job.
Couple others worth noting — Shawn Stiffler (VCU/ND) as a potential HC candidate, Shane Halley (Marymount) as a bench coach, Billy Wagner (Miller School) as a bench coach, Javier Lopez (Giants) as a bench coach.
It’s not the easiest job, but like you mentioned he also hasn’t been hurting for resources in recent years. Wake does very well in NIL. And he wouldn’t have access to a pitching lab here, at least for some time.
Yeah Stiffler could be a possibility, he’s in his third season at ND now and they were a fringe tourney team this year. Also if people want to add any more coaches they think are possibilities or make sense, feel free to. The doc should be available to edit.
Won’t get too far into potential assistant options until it becomes more clearing who our top HC candidates are.
Yeah, that’s the one I heard that flat out didn’t believe without any context.
That’s a value add project for Williams. Get UVA orthopedics or Inova or MCV/VCU health to partner up with baseball to build one. If she can get the health side to pay for most of it, that’s a great asset for athletics without having to pay full freight.

I’m not saying it’s entirely Carla’s fault that BOC left, in fact I think it was largely out of her hands. However, I completely understand why some people feel like she should take the blame here. Like it or not, she is the face of the AD who has had a less than stellar few years in terms of performance and coaching losses for major sports. The discourse on Twitter is horrible, I’m fine with people ragging on Carla, but it seems like there’s a small group of Carla defenders like Kenton Griffin and Ahmad Hawkins who seems to be implying that race has something to do with why people are angry with her right now. While I am not denying that it may be a factor for a minuscule portion of fans, I think it’s a disservice to the larger UVA fan community and Carla herself to insinuate that some of these comments against her are a product of racial bias. They’re effectively saying that any negative comment about her is rooted in racism and leaving no room for valid criticisms which many fans understandably have

Baseball coach feels like a we’ll fly you commercial to DC and meet you there to interview kind of job. Or even fly them commercial to Charlottesville. I doubt there’s more than a handful of people in town over the summer that could pick out any college baseball coach in a crowd.

I think I’ve settled in on Josh Elander as being my top choice if he ends up being interested in the job. It would be a bit of a risk given no head coaching experience and also the possibility of him returning to SEC country at some point, but to me he is the highest ceiling coach of anyone who has been mentioned. I just find myself extremely impressed with the job he’s done at Tennessee, obviously Vitello is a large reason for that as well but Elander is his right hand man for a reason.
O’Connor was an assistant when we hired him in 2004 and that turned out pretty well for us. Only thing we’d have to kinda overlook is that Elander’s players tend to act like jackasses on the diamond. But hey, maybe we could use a bit of that mentality going forward.

Am noticing that RHP Aaron Watson is no longer listed as a commitment for us in our 2025 class on Perfect Game. Not sure if that’s a bug or he’s decommitted, nothing on his socials would lead you to believe that he’s not signed with us anymore.
With that being said, he’s a very high draft risk anyway so might not matter in the long run.

Bauer is another one that I wasn’t expecting to make it here anyway. Would be surprised if he doesn’t get taken within the first 2-3 rounds.
