It sounds like Kendall has done some checking into Pollard and his interest towards the UVA job. Might be good to watch that one

Kinda got that vibe as well. The end of his blurb on Pollard says:
“Some wonder if Pollard would entertain the idea of leaving Duke for another ACC school. The answer is yes. Though Duke is a great program, Virginia clearly has many more resources. Pollard was in the mix for the TCU job a few seasons ago before Kirk Saarloos was promoted to head coach. He was also in the mix at Miami when the Hurricanes promoted J.D. Arteaga to head coach. Perhaps the Virginia job is the one that ultimately makes the most sense.”
To me Pollard would be arguably the safest bet to be successful here given his track record of winning at Duke and ties to the region. And that’s not to say he’s a coach without a high ceiling either, I think with our resources he’d keep us a top 20 program at minimum.

He’s probably the safest bet which I’m happy with. I just want postseasons for the most part. Have to admit I’m super intrigued by Penders and Brown though.

Also being from Amherst would go a long way in quickly connecting with the fan base as someone “home grown”. Great experience, fierce competitor, Virginia guy. Seems like a pretty damn good fit.

Man I would go young on new head coach. Find someone thats all in baseball climber in the college ranks. Thats what Florida did when they got our UVa player and seems like Oconner was pretty young when he took over 24 years ago (if I am right there)

What other relevant jobs are open? He’s probably worth waiting for. I imagine number of the other guys will still be available in a week or two.
I just looked up O’Conner when he was hired by UVa. Thats the profile you want for the new coach. Not some long time guy like Mississippi State just hired

Would Walter or Pollard coming here be pretty much akin to O’Connor going to MSU?
From lurking on their board since they fired Lemonis, he did an online program or something when he was the head coach at Pfeiffer to get a master’s. They were skeptical that he ever stepped foot on their campus.
He played at Davidson for his undergrad.
