I don’t blame Dickinson at all for feeling slighted, given that at no point did it ever seem like O’Connor had plans to bring him along. Has to feel like a pretty big betrayal.
With that being said though, would be very underwhelmed if we promoted him to the HC spot. He should be a last resort type option in my opinion given the coaches that we’ve been linked to up to this point. It is interesting that he said he’d be open to staying on as a pitching coach for any new staff, at the very least I’ll give him credit for seeming committed to our program.

If we hire Drew Dickinson as our head coach I will abandon the program totally and ignore its existence.
He ruined plenty of very good arms and the fact that Oak didn’t think he was worthy of bringing along to MSU is a damning indictment.
Fire than man into the sun and forget he ever contributed to this team.

His resume is better than the actual results partially because he was given great talent to mold, which makes no sense because I was told we were a poverty program with no resources.

Am trying my best to keep up with the roster/portal entries/remaining HS commits on the 2nd post of this thread, for anyone wondering about our current 2026 roster outlook. So far we’ve had LHP Jack Bauer, RHP Aaron Watson, and RHP Sam Rosand decommit from our 2025 class.
Bauer and Watson are both considered top 100 prospects for the upcoming MLB draft, and were seen as massive longshots to make it onto Grounds anyway. SEC NIL could potentially change that equation for them but I have my doubts. I would also expect us to lose Nicky Becker with Eric likely following O’Connor to MSU. He’s another that could be meaningless in the long run, as he’s also a major draft risk. Hopefully we can find a way to hang onto Aiden Stillman.
School’s done, summer leagues haven’t started yet (if he was even planning on playing). Visits’ll give him leverage in the draft and contract negotiations and a fallback in case the draft doesn’t go as expected and he doesn’t like the new coaching staff. Beats working the assembly line for sure.
