🏀 2025 Women's Basketball Offseason

I want more transparency from this program. I’d like Mox to speak more to player health and mysterious long-term disappearances from the bench (Yonta, Hawa, RyLee) and to the general feeling around the team three years in.

WBB is kind of a bubble, and I think it’s a combo of lack of local media interest/demand and the nature of those running it.

This Hughey announcement was the first piece of BIG news. Now we’re rolling. Lots of fun and good news on the horizon over the next few weeks.

There’s a ton of talent available in the portal. At last count 12 of the top 25 available were bigs.

Also for comparison GT just lost 5 players to the portal and they were a tournament team on a historic run for the school. Point being in the portal era mass exodus happens

Cavfutures announced Kymora is returning, so that’s good at least!

Really hard to win if your best player is that small -
Need real bigs to compete.

She may need to play on both teams next season

I would say brutal news - but rumblings there are some big additions in the works…. Pun intended

Hired gun, fourth school in five years, and more tellingly, fourth school in four healthy years.

Sure she will be leaving behind some great friends and memories :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well this is surprising to say the least, projected #2 pick is leaving Notre Dame for the portal and not for the draft:

Reminds me that on the men’s side, Sam V expects fewer guys enter the draft process this year

Honestly probably a good decision. She’ll make more money next season in college from NIL than she would have made as a rookie in the WNBA.

Yea for women’s plays an extra year in school is worth a lot more than a first year WNBA deal. And with a potential labor strike on the horizen Id take the extra year of income.

And not only do top college WBB players stand to make more money through NIL than their WNBA salary would be, but their expenses are probably a ton lower as a D1 scholarship athlete than as a pro

I’ll admit to a little schadenfreude over this. I like the NBA/WNBA well enough, but I like college hoops better. And the NBA has been pretty unconcerned with the impact of its decisions on college hoops in recent years. While I know this is hardly keeping the NBA up at night, its nice to see the shoe at least a little on the other foot for a change.

Wow. Was not expecting UConn to just murder UCLA like this.

Especially with Bueckers shooting poorly.

So uh, when are we going to get a recruit or transfer on this side of things? It’s been eerily quiet.

Had to turn it off at the half. UCLA was very sloppy and had no plan B when UConn swarmed Betts. Fudd was also cooking in the first half
