Something thatās kind of astounding. In the ESPN bracket challenge for the womenās tournament, not one but two people missed a perfect bracket by just 1 game. One person got Utah vs Indiana wrong in the first round and another person got Ole Miss vs Baylor wrong in the second round, but otherwise both of them got every single other game correct. Thatās just incredible.

True. And while the numbers obviously donāt break out exactly like this, if you had an ~80% chance of picking every game correctly the entire way, youād expect around 1 out of every 2 million people to pick 62 games correctly which is about what we got.
Oh, wait, actually, thatās to get 62 straight games right, not to get 62 out of 63 games right. So the prediction rate is probably even lower than 80%.
Edit - Turns out, I couldnāt just let it sit. You need everyone to have an accuracy rate of about 74% on their predictions to get 62 out of 63 right 1 in 2,000,000 tries or so.
Edit2 - On the menās side, there are a handful of people (I didnāt count them, but Iām guessing its 10-ish) whoāve only gotten 3 or 4 picks wrong. On the other hand, there are like 5-6x as many predicts for the men and thereās still a game to go, so the accuracy isnāt nearly as good.

Didnāt play for NC State last year due to injury, but put up big stats as a center at Boston University in 2023-24.
